People who think they no longer depend on trusting experts only survive because they're mistaken. Every time you get on a plane you trust experts implicitly about a million questions you're not even aware of.

Arguments take two forms: authentic & reverse-engineered. Authentic arguments emerge naturally from the situation itself. Reverse-engineered ones are constructed backward—designed to serve a preexisting urge to discredit or harm an antagonist. The first kind has few degrees of freedom. The second is highly dimensional, of the type "find me a person and I will find the crime". Almost all the ones used in politics are of the second kind.
