ajj: JSON-RPC that developers actually want to use.
Simplified interface. Built-in tracing. Better resource usage. RPC should be legible and observable
Built on tower and axum — industry standards with broad support. Use the best tools

spent part of january working on something cool :)
signet-libmdbx is a modern rework of rust libmdbx bindings, which power reth and other clients
- 2x speedups on hot-path writes 🐇
- fixed a lot of UB 🪲
- built-in support for DUPFIXED optimization

go watch @_prestwich's talk today, observability is cool and he'll be the best smelling speaker of the day

Received share of airdrop and can attest that it’s holding its (scent) value already for multiple hours (very rare with recent airdrops)
Happy to post-announce Signet's Signature Scent ($S3) Airdrop!
Find any @signetsh team member in Buenos Aires this week, and receive your portion of $S3, while supplies last!
See thread for airdrop allocations and details
Like ❤️ and 🔄 Retweet this to pre-reserve an alloc!
we are airdropping at Devconnect right now. Find @_prestwich in the coworking space for your share of $S3 🥳

The answer is NOT L2s or L1 Premiums.
The answer is rollups that are actually @ethereum-aligned and use ETH L1 tokens and liquidity.
This is exactly what @signetsh is building...
From Circle's most recent quarterly report:
“Circle is exploring the possibility of launching a native token on the Arc network which could foster network participation to drive adoption, further align the interests of Arc stakeholders and support the long-term growth and success of the Arc network.”
Why L1 instead of L2?
9 times out of 10 the answer is L1 Premium.

One thing I wanted to say, but didn't get to:
Bitcoin is struggling culturally/technically with parasites, while Ethereum is just giving its lunch away to RUs
Ethereum needs Rollups. Rollups don't need Ethereum. Except @signetsh. We're too tightly coupled to go anywhere else 🙃
A Rollup that *Actually* Scales Ethereum
In this episode of Deeply Intents, I chat with @_prestwich of @init4tech @signetsh. This episode is a masterclass on rollups.
In this episode we discuss:

- History of rollups
- @signetsh from first principles
- Conditional Transactions
- Application Controlled Execution

This was a real treat. While you won't get the 2023 era of argumentation, you will get a comprehensive history of rollups as well as a breakdown of all the cool tech that the @signetsh team is working on.
Conditional Transactions are awesome.

if you're a crypto dev wondering what instrumentation is, and where to start, @prestwich wrote a quick primer
Here are the key points:
1. Tracing >>> Logging
2. Spans >>> Events
3. Mature systems need observability
4. You can implement it. Easily. Today.

We're experimenting with adding serialization to the EVM state changes at each block
Basically, we think that streaming net state changes might be faster for some use-cases than downloading blocks and re-executing
Anyone have existing research here?

When you want to run eth_call, you need the state as of a specific block, but you do NOT need the block body. So you could hypothetically sync a program that ONLY services eth_call much quicker using journals?
The EVM output contains state changes, and new contract code
It would need to be combined with headers to properly build a DB capable of simulating EVM execution, but headers are often much smaller than block bodies
