TV shows for the week of Halloween. Poltergeist The Legacy. Despite the name, it has nothing to do with the movies. The show was about a secret group that had chapter houses all around the world that dealt with supernatural threats. This show follows the San Francisco chapter house. I thought this show would have made a pretty good TTRPG and you could put chapter houses anywhere you wanted to run a game.

My order from @Waynes_Books arrived today.

Continuing with Halloween Season TTRPGs this week. If you want some military operators taking on occult dangers, I have two. Blacklight using the Shadowdark ruleset, and Task Force Raven using the Savage Worlds rules.

Tonight’s Halloween season movie is Strange Harvest. A Mocumentary that does a good job to feeling like a true crime documentary you see on Netflix or HBO. This one follows the case of a serial killer called Mr. shiny, and there might be some cosmic horror attached to the case.

For Halloween season TV shows a good comedy Horror series (more comedy) is Stan against Evil. The Werepony episode cracks me up every time. There are three seasons

If you play 5E but want some Lovecraftian horror in your game, @SandyofCthulhu did a book for that.

I had a little time before bed, so decided to watch some classic Twilight Zone. The monsters are due in Maple street. It’s a classic.

Tonight’s Halloween season movie. Feast, the unrated cut. A group of people are trapped in a bar when unknown monsters attack. @JollyPuppe20868 let me know there were two other sequels a couple of years ago. The original is the good one.

Woo Hoo! The Delta Kings from @wargate actually arrived today. A signed copy.

Since we are into the week of Halloween I will show a couple of TV shows. Kolchak: the night stalker is a classic. I remember watching it when it was first on TV with my dad.

Other anthology series I liked in the 80s was the In Hell series, starting with Heroes in Hell. I always thought it would make a great TTRPG as well. Was thinking of doing a home brew Savage Worlds game someday.

I just got an email that my copy is arriving soon. Based on the Forgotten Ruin world.

Todays Halloween TTRP is a Horror scifi game called Mothership. If you like Alien or Event Horizon, this is the game for you. It is a simple character creation and the game has an official app to make characters and space ships.

Tonight’s Halloween Season movie is Pontypool, a Canadian movie. The movie takes place in a local radio station when violence breaks out in town. Unlike other “zombie” movies, it’s not a virus that starts it, it is language.

Another 80s series is an anthology series by Pournelle, the first one called There will be war. The anthology had both short stories and non fiction articles.

Today’s TTRPG for the Halloween season is All Flesh Must Be Eaten. As far as I can tell, it is the original Zombie Role Playing game.

Tonight’s Halloween season movie is The Waves of Madness. It’s a shorter movie (1hr 8 min) This movie is only for those that are interested in something completely different. The movie is black and white, and is shot almost like an old 2D video game. The characters move only left or right. They change levels in an elevator. And the actors almost talk like a stage play. The story is a cruise ship has gone off course and an automated message broadcast says not to approach. An agent is sent to find out what is going on. The movie has Russians, Cultists and monsters. When I first started it, I was not sure I would like it, but it grows on you as you get into what they are doing. I like it….. and if you watch it, check out the mid credit scene.

Another 80s series that involved Time Travel is Cross-Time Engineer. The series dealing with a Polish engineer that finds himself in 1231 AD and wants to stop the Mongrel Invasion that happens in 10 years.

Another horror TTRPG is the goat, Call of Cthulhu. This is the reprint of the first edition box as well as several modules.
