👏 Listen to this girl who was 16 when the referendum happened.
She’s right the vote was corrupt and we need another vote!
Lady in stripes, "What about the troubles inside our own country?"
"It was Nigel Farage who responded to misinformation about stabbings by saying that people should respond with cold hard rage"
"There were race riots in 2024, I had black and brown friends who were scared to leave the house"
"And there was a massive racial bias with Brexit pushing people to vote in certain ways"
Fiona Bruce, "And when it comes to freedom of movement with the EU would you welcome that?"
Lady in stripes, "I would welcome Freedom of Movement. I was only 16 when the vote happened"
"Many adults I spoke to voted for Brexit and then regretted it because they voted on it based on lies"
"There was also the Cambridge Analytica scandal"
"I'm firmly of the belief that the Brexit vote was not democratic and that we should have another referendum"
My view:
She is right to challenge the idea that Britain’s problems begin at its borders. The rhetoric used by politicians at home has consequences too.
When false claims about violence are amplified and people are urged to channel their anger, the damage does not stop when the headlines move on.
The 2024 riots left many people frightened in their own communities, including people who felt targeted because of their race.
Her argument about Brexit also deserves to be heard. A generation too young to vote has lived with the consequences, while many people who did vote later said they regretted it.
The Cambridge Analytica scandal raised further questions about how personal data was used in the campaign.
That alone does not prove the result was changed, but it deepened public concern about the way the debate was conducted.
If the case for Brexit still stands, let the public judge it again—with the consequences visible and the facts in front of them.

25 years ago today I turned up at BBC Television Centre for my first day as a junior producer on Simon Mayo’s show on Five Live. I still pinch myself that I’m working for BBC News. Spent the day rehearsing for our US midterms special. We’re on air on Tuesday night…

We are in Oleshky! The Ukrainian delegation has safely reached the city.
The ceasefire has been in effect for 80 hours and remains in place. I am currently on the ground, speaking with local residents to hear about their needs and understand what kind of assistance they need most.
I will share more details later.

🇪🇺 Kaja Kallas:
The Foreign minister of the Soviet Union said that the tactics of Russia are actually threefold.
First, you present demands and ask for something that has never been yours. Second, you present ultimatums and threats.
And third, you just wait, because there will always be people in the West who will offer you something you didn't have before.
So you just have to wait them out, because the Westerners will always fold. Let's not give him this.

Don not fall for them because they are a bunch of conmen, they are being found out & one reason why Nigel Farage will never be PM.

Very enjoyable evening in Warwick with an audience clearly supporting the idea that Brexit was a disaster and net zero is the only way to go. Nice of @libdemdaisy to be there on her birthday! We all drank to her health afterwards apart from @ZiaYusufUK who legged it with his status symbol bodyguard. Fascinating to see how he did not make a single positive argument for Brexit. They never do. He has lovely shoes though, but a very weak handshake which is never a good sign in anyone.
Tonight, Question Time is in Warwick
Joining Fiona on the panel are Emma Reynolds, James Cartlidge, Daisy Cooper, Zia Yusuf, and Alastair Campbell
Watch at 9pm on @BBCiPlayer, @BBCSounds & the @BBCNews channel, 10.40pm on @BBCOne

🔥🏙️ Our special correspondents – the mayors of Moscow and St. Petersburg – are reporting another round of major attacks on their cities: airports closed, flights cancelled, and, most importantly, military and strategic targets demilitarized.
Apparently, they do not enjoy the “special military operation” quite as much when it reaches their own cities.
💸 And the criticism from inside Russia is growing. Moscow’s mayor has questioned Putin’s war economy, and now even the head of the Russian Communists is attacking the enormous military spending. Every second ruble is being burned on a war that is increasingly destroying Russia itself.
Putin wanted to be remembered as the “gatherer of Russian lands.” He may instead be remembered as the man who triggered their dissolution.

A good meeting with Prime Minister Rob Jetten @MinPres of the Netherlands. Thank you for the new military support package for Ukraine worth €500 million, which is being prepared right now – this fall. This is truly significant, especially when it comes to repelling Russian air attacks.
I also thank you for the announced €1.2 billion package of non-lethal support for Ukraine. It strengthens our resilience, and the funds will go toward energy support, infrastructure recovery, the social sector, and health care.
Rob and I discussed the situation in the diplomatic process in great detail. A lot is happening right now. In the context of preparations for the trilateral meeting planned in Abu Dhabi, we discussed what we can do together with our European partners to ensure that the position of all of us in Europe is really taken into account.
We are also working to see all political agreements followed by tangible economic results, creating economic growth and jobs in both Ukraine and the Netherlands. Thank you, Rob!

🔥 More bad news from the collapsing Russian economy.
Sberbank — Russia’s largest bank — now reports 2.7 trillion rubles ($33.5 billion) in defaulted assets, up nearly 20% this year.
Even its own CFO admits corporate loan quality is now their “greatest uncertainty and concern.”
And the situation may be worse than it looks: Russia’s Central Bank classifies 12.9% of corporate lending as problematic when risky restructured loans are included.
Putin’s war is putting more and more pressure on Russian businesses, borrowers and banks.

Dr Abdul El-Sayed, "We actively being bullied by the dumbest people in the room. Donald Trump Is an idiot. A nepo baby. Just a fool."
El-Sayed, a medical doctor, is also the Democratic Senate candidate in Michigan.
El-Sayed is arguing that this isn’t just about Trump’s character, but how power is being used.
There’s a reason the bullying charge resonates: Trump has repeatedly called for action against people he considers enemies, and his administration has used federal power against critics and opponents.
When the president turns public institutions into tools for personal retaliation, it’s more than bluster.
I’m grateful El-Sayed is willing to speak plainly about what this looks like: a president attacking people he sees as opponents and using the power of his office against critics.
The midterms give Americans a chance to judge this record for themselves: are they comfortable with this kind of leadership, or do they want a Congress that will push back and take the country in a different direction?
