🇯🇵 🇪🇺 Japan What happens when Japanese “green” steel meets Europe’s carbon and consumer-protection rules? Japan’s major steelmakers are increasingly marketing “GX” or "Green" steel using a mass-balance accounting model, where emissions reductions are allocated through certificates rather than necessarily reflecting how the physical steel was produced. New analysis highlights the potential risks this creates in Europe: ▪️ Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM): certified steel may still face the same carbon liability as conventional blast-furnace steel. ▪️ Scope 3: buyers cannot simply use certificates to report lower product emissions. ▪️ Consumer claims: risks can travel down the value chain when certified steel is used to market cars and other consumer products as low-carbon. For Japanese steelmakers looking to compete in Europe, a green label ultimately needs genuinely green steel behind it. 👉 Swipe to explore the regulatory risks and find the full analysis here: forourclimate.org/research/7… #GreenSteel #CBAM #Scope3 #IndustrialDecarbonization #EU #Japan #SFOC

It’s un-Australian (undermining a High Court win on coal) and it’s a direct attack on our kids future and that’s why we’ll be outside NSW Parliament knitting up a storm next Tuesday. lockthegate.org.au/it_s_un_a…

⚖️ Did you know that only 30% of laws in NSW are made by an Act of Parliament? The other 70% is known as delegated legislation. But what exactly does that mean, and what role does the Legislative Council play in scrutinising it? Watch to find out 👇

Craziness. Trump’s planned rollback of methane rules would emit 60 million more tons of the gas (80 times more warming than CO2 over 20 years) while his own EPA admits it would cut oil prices by just 0.14% and increase production by a miniscule 0.09%. cnbc.com/2026/10/29/trump-me…

'Gas or starvation' – that's what the Chair of Australia's biggest pipeline company, @APAGroup, said to Natasha, a 22-year-old who will live with the consequences of #climate change far longer than he will. The choice isn't gas or starvation. It's a planet we can live on, vs. one we can't.

In 2025, global CO₂ concentration rose to a record 426.8 parts per million. That's 153% of pre-industrial levels. Every additional ppm traps more heat and supercharges the ocean and the atmosphere. 🔗 Read the WMO Greenhouse Gas Bulletin: bit.ly/4iIqwMR
