Very pleased that my book 'Medievalism in Nineteenth-Century Belgium: The 1848 Monument to Godfrey of Bouillon' is now out - and I have the hard copies to prove it!

The monument to St Boniface in Fulda - it has some major 'Charlton Heston in the Ten Commandments' vibes

WELSH PLACE-NAMES IN ENGLAND 🏴
Just *some* of the many place-names in England with Welsh equivalents.
I had to miss out so many to fit the ones included… and even most of those aren’t in exactly the correct positions!
Search ‘Welsh toponyms’ to find a much more extensive list.
I can heartily recommend this call for applications to spend some on fellowship at @CAPASHeidelberg thinking about the Apocalypse in all its incarnations and guises. My time there has been transformative and inspiring!
Call for Applications #CfP Fellowships at CAPAS for up to 6 months, starting 09/2024. Academic focus lies on imaginaries and concepts of the (post-)apocalypse as a specific figure of transformation, rupture, and speculative thought. Deadline 31.08.2023 ➡️ uni-heidelberg.de/capas/call…
I'm not at @IMC_Leeds this year, but my new book 'Medievalism in Nineteenth-Century Belgium' might well be😉
Should appeal to anyone interested in C19th (ab)uses of the medieval past
Seek out @boydellbrewer at the Bookfair!
Had fun watching baseball in London last weekend 🇺🇸🇬🇧⚾️@MLBEurope
I learn that at one point plans for the Eurostar included a night train from Swansea to Paris...
Just imagine, spending the day in one of Europe's most beautiful cities, catching a train late at night, and waking up the next morning in Paris

You know it's hot when a museum adds a note to its poster to say that the current exhibition is air conditioned...
