It seems pretty unlikely that the Eagles are going to fire HC Nick Sirianni anytime soon.
But at 2-6, Philadelphia needs to prioritize getting a closer look at the players that could have a future with the team beyond this season.
- Joe Milton or Cole Payton should be starting at quarterback over Tanner McKee
- Jaydon Blue should receive more reps at running back ahead of Elijah Mitchell (and Saquon Barkley should rest)
- Makai Lemon and Darius Cooper should be dominating the snaps at wide receiver (with DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks out)
- Eli Stowers should play more snaps than any tight end not named Dallas Goedert
- Ty Robinson should play significantly more snaps than Byron Young
- Jalyx Hunt and Nolan Smith Jr. should be dominating the snaps at edge rusher
I don’t expect the Eagles to blatantly embrace tanking but stop wasting time with veterans that likely won’t be here in 2027 and beyond.
It’s simple! Any veteran players that are remotely hurt or battling through injuries should be benched in favor of younger, developmental players.

“He should have kept his mouth shut. All that talk, and then to come out with 0 tackles? You didn't stand on business. He gotta look at himself in the mirror and get better."

It turns out that trading for an EDGE rusher coming off of an injury that required offseason surgery and then paying him a lot of money while also signing a CB that isn't a scheme fit to a big deal while letting a S that was a scheme fit walk on a reasonable deal and having no plan at safety other than taking your superstar slot defender play safety part time and thus making him bad at both wasn't the best offseason plan for the defense.
