“I also liked the lyrics, which expressed our affection for each other in such a cute way”
ningning talking about the making of lollipop with giselle in her recent interview with wkorea 🥹
💬 the duet song ‘lollipop’ by ningning and giselle is probably the most talked-about performance of this tour, right? it has a dreamy r&b vibe. would you describe it as soft and warm, or perhaps a little tingly and fluttery? some fans have even commented that the performance feels like it smells like perfume.
🦋 we made the song during our 2024 world tour. i remember staying up all night making it with giselle unnie in our hotel room in amsterdam. i had just bought music production equipment and was in the middle of learning how to use it, so i carried that heavy equipment around with me throughout the entire tour. giselle unnie and i have been talking about music a lot for a long time.
we know each other’s musical tastes so well that we can even tell how they’ve changed over the years. we started out jokingly, saying that we should try making something together, and that first song turned out to be ‘lollipop’. looking back now, there are definitely things i wish we could have done better. but i’m still attached to it. it’s the first song we made together, after all. i wanted to show everything, including our inexperience and imperfections. of course, it’s also nice to see how much we’ve improved. for a while, ‘lollipop’ was always on my playlist, too. i also liked the lyrics, which expressed our affection for each other in such a cute way. actually, the word ‘lollipop’ itself came up out of nowhere, too. when we work on music, we don’t really have any set rules. we don’t make songs with their release in mind, nor do we feel pressured to make something good. we usually meet at home or in a hotel, talk about how we’re feeling that day, and then start working on music. if we’re sad, we make something sad; if we’re angry, we make something angry. there’s even a song where i rap in chinese and unnie raps in japanese. we’ve also made a rock song.
