After ~5 years of maintainership and over 100 million downloads, I'm happy to announce that my opencv-python packaging project has been adopted by the OpenCV organization.
It can be found in the future from github.com/opencv/opencv-pyt…. #OpenCV #python

The GitHits research tool now cites package vulnerabilities directly.
Ask "Which lodash version fixes CVE-2020-8203?" in the CLI, the MCP server, or public Research on the GitHits Index, and you get 4.17.19, cited straight from osv.dev.
Packages also get their own public vulnerability page:

Research: Agents can delegate dependency questions to GitHits, get answers with sources, and ask follow-ups.
Code diffs: Compare source between package versions or repository refs.
Target resolution: Find the right package, repository, or documentation site from a dependency name.
Browsable index: Explore packages, versions, dependencies, security advisories, and docs. Run Research directly in your browser.
README badges: Maintainers can show their project’s live index status.
REST API: Integrate GitHits into software factories and custom agent workflows. Available for evaluation.
More connectors: Cursor, Claude, and Vercel Connect. ChatGPT / Codex plugin coming soon.
Broader coverage: GitLab, Codeberg, and Launchpad alongside GitHub, plus deeper dependency checks and improved upgrade reviews.
Refreshed website: Tool examples and dedicated pages for software factories, developers, and maintainers.

Major product updates and results from three experiments:
- 13x faster dependency checks
- 7x more errors traced to source
- correct API calls up from 68% to 94%

What does the GitHits index actually contain? @jlitola built a quick prototype that visualizes the data we have.
We parse everything down to symbol level, and have the call graphs and even ecosystem imports mapped out. We provide this for every OSS repo out there. GitHits has the map of the worlds code.
Served via ultra fast GitHits index. No cloning needed. Your coding agents need this, in fact they will love it.

We just mapped what six coding models actually know about six libraries they ship against every day.
Codex gpt-6.1-sol · Codex gpt-6-luna · Kimi K3.1 Pro · DeepSeek V4 Flash · Qwen3 Coder Next · gpt-oss-120b vs pydantic · FastAPI · SQLAlchemy · Next.js · Zod · Tokio
GitHits is the version-pin ground truth. We can finally see each model's real knowledge cutoff.
Which model × library combo should we map next?

So how quickly exactly we index over 5 million lines of code? Let's take Bun as an example: the indexing estimate here was over 2 mins, but in the end we did it in 1 min 17 secs.
I guess that is pretty fast. And you can do this for any commit / ref in your repo. How cool is that?

Our long running example and research tools send now these nice status events, at least Claude Code renders them nicely. Codex ignores them :(
X did not accept my screencapture video because of too big aspect ratio, linkedin took it in without issues :D
