If we want to build learning systems for improvement, we must encourage our teams to be curious. A culture of curiosity leads to psychological safety, experimentation & problem solving. Yet a recent large study found most leaders regard curious people as "insubordinate" & like them less than people who don't question things. However, curious people who are politically skilled are liked & supported by their leaders. Lessons for leaders AND change agents here. Change agents: how do we express our curiosity in constructive ways, asking the right questions at the right time? hbr.org/2023/11/research-whe… By @OUOBProf

Storytelling is an essential leadership skill. Stories help us make connections, build meaningful relationships with others & retain information. We're 7x more likely to remember a fact when it's wrapped in a story. As leaders we should build skills in telling five kinds of stories:
1) Vision stories which inspire a shared one.
2) Values stories that model the way.
3) Action stories that spark change & progress.
4) Teaching stories that transmit knowledge & skills to others
5) Trust stories that help people understand, connect with & believe in us.

Q4 As a leader we have to go first and ask for feedback (especially when we think we haven't got it right). I love the radical candor framework from @kimballscott I am more comfortable in the ruinous empathy quadrant but I am trying to improve @SallyVaughan37 #LeadingQI
Q4. As with all relationships, behaviours don’t always align to expectations/promises made. How can we create safe spaces to ‘call out’ when things go wrong, work together to make sense of the problem, and engage in collective problem-solving? Use hashtags #LeadingQI and #QIhour.

Unless Phillip Schofield’s ex-lover contradicts his version of events to @TheSun & BBC, then it’s time to stop this relentless persecution of a guy who’s lost everything and looks right on the edge to me. He doesn’t seem to have committed any crime, and he’s not a Govt minister.

It’s easy to think “it’s just a few minutes.” But as the number of people that you hold up increases, the true cost of being late scales rapidly. Being 10 mins late to a meeting with 10 others is 100 minutes. I'm doing some work on improving meeting practice currently so this sketch speaks to me. It comes from @sketchplanator, one of the most impactful visual artists on Twitter.
