Talked to multiple founders yesterday who have been building their products over the last 3 years. Started manual code.
They feel behind and slower than companies that started this year with all code written by agents.
I have never seen such an order of magnitude difference.
We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence.

I wonder how midterms and public sentiment towards AI will be affected when security issues go mainstream.
October has been an absolute nightmare for software
> Railway - customer secrets exposure
> LiteLLM - malicious PyPI + Docker releases
> Zeabur - infrastructure breached
> OpenCode - AI API keys exposed
> OVHcloud CLI - official binaries backdoored
> Rank Math PRO - malware in official plugin
> TeamUpdraft - customer data compromised
> ConnectWise - cloud backup identities compromised
> Tensorlake - npm package infected
> SubQuery - backdoored npm package
> GhostAction - GitHub repos with malicious workflows
> PHP - critical RCE vulnerabilities
> Node.js - security vulnerabilities patched
> eMudhra - certificate authority keys compromised
> Tailscale - eMudhra incident
At this point, the biggest security risk might not be the code we write, but the code we trust...

.@jayleno says the middle of the consumer market is disappearing, from cars to hotels to restaurants.
"The middle is dead."
"I see Porsche moving upscale and they want to be like Ferrari."
"Everything is that way now. With hotels, you're either at the Motel 6 or the Four Seasons."
"Restaurants are either fast food or top end restaurant."
"We have no middle class anymore."
Ben Horowitz on treating your story as your strategy, and why founders often skip writing it even though it's one of the most important parts of the job:
"The story of the company is also the strategy of the company... In your mind, you're kind of adjusting that strategy a little bit at a time every day. But then a quarter later, it's actually pretty different than what you started with."
"So it's really important that you keep upgrading your story. The articulation of your story. I would definitely recommend it be in written form."
"Something that you can share with everybody in the company, and everybody you're recruiting, everybody you're trying to raise money from, all your constituents, every customer."
"The problem that I think founders have is it doesn't feel like work. Like, 'What are you doing today?' 'I'm working on my story.' That doesn't sound like work."
"Because it doesn't feel like work, people don't do it, but it's probably one of the most important parts of the job."

“Hopefully the AI Is nice to us” - @elonmusk
The importance of being truth seeking and optimistic is greater now, more than ever. AI will be training on the narratives we feed it. Because the future is open, not predetermined, we are responsible for what it learns and how it is shaped.
A better world will not be possible if we cannot imagine it or narrate it.
Physical AI won’t be able to deliver a path to a better world if we don’t feed it one.
Really enjoyed the latest interview with Elon and @WalterIsaacson

instead of just hiring a head of social,
more companies should hire heads of platforms
"head of X"
"head of LinkedIn"
"head of tiktok"
and have each person responsible for dominating on those platforms
learn every growth hack, leverage employees w/ existing audiences on those platforms, and grow exponentially
even if not full-time gigs,
i'd rather have a platform expert who can dedicate 20 hours a week vs one person trying to juggle 6 accounts at once
just pick the platform that will move the needle most for your biz
(wherever your customers/audience is spending the most time)

I love when people care about their work
Ways I like to work and experiment: For this search input component, I can strip away pretty much all of the surrounding UI and focus entirely on the component in isolation.
From there, I can quickly jump between different states, bringing back parts of the UI or the full context to experiment with patterns, behaviors, and interactions.
literal hardest role to hire for rn and every ai startup wants someone
> chronically online (knows trends)
> has taste & can create (new media)
> understands ai & technical
> can execute with quality (operator)
such a small niche of folks who can do this
ive talked to many teams in the past few months who are thinking about this but dont know quite what to call it/have called it everything from brand marketing to comms to storytelling to special projects to content/social
4 high-profile startups in past ~2 weeks have explicitly told me they are stealthily looking to hire for someone in this sort of role
these roles are quietly and quickly exploding if your ear is to the ground!!
Fantastic ad.
The secondary social impacts of this will be unlike anything we’ve ever seen before.
TL;DR Reciprocal surveillance is better than one-way state or corporate surveillance, because it at least points the camera back at power. But it doesn't restore the psychological conditions that privacy provides. It trades fear of the state for fear of the crowd. The likely human result is safer, more polite, more conformist and less honest public behavior, with candor, dissent and experimentation retreating into whatever spaces stay unrecorded.
Here’s what we can expect:
Expect a population that is more conforming, more performative and less candid.
Expect real gains in accountability for the conduct that gets recorded.
Expect an advantage for the shameless and the already powerful.
Expect arguments about mutual accountability, that fails on one point: capturing a recording is cheap, but making it matter is not.
Expect an asymmetric cost of shame. The surveillance disciplines people who care what others think, the shameless are mostly immune, so the system selects for them.
Expect real and measurable chilling effects.
Expect chronic low-grade self-monitoring, more anxiety, and a self that is more managed and less exploratory.
Expect less risk-taking in youth, and more rigid identities.
Expect less overt misconduct and more hidden misconduct.
Expect public consensus to look stronger than it is, and more societies prone to sudden, surprising swings in opinion.
Expect lower trust and more formality. Candid conversation get more valuable and rarer.
Expect private, in-person, device-free settings to become a premium good.
Expect real genuine upside. Abuse by authorities is much harder to hide, small-scale fraud and harassment get easier to prove, and the vulnerable gain evidence.
