A new ‘ALIEN’ movie is in the works. • It will be connected to ‘Prometheus’ and ‘Covenant’ • Aaron Guzikowski (‘Prisoners’, ‘Raised by Wolves’) is writing the script (Source: hollywoodreporter.com/movies…)

Soderbergh is no Whedon and lots of other factors are different from Justice League in 2017, so hopefully everything is above board with The Batman Part II. I do know personally, I spent a lot of energy very confidently supporting the official story for JL17 before it released, and being so loudly and confidently wrong ended up being quite humbling, so "trust the official story" in a case like this is a tough ask. Regardless, it's clear Matt Reeves and his family are going through it, so prayers for them, since that's all far more important than a movie.

If any director is truly capably of coming into another director's project and delivering it in a way that seamlessly matches the original vision, it's Soderbergh. The man is as technical as they come. It's an entirely different ballpark from "Joss Whedon is completing Zack Snyder's vision"

Sometimes having taste is like Plato’s Allegory of the Cave.
Unpopular opinion; No one - literally not a soul - actually enjoys the taste of beer. Not a single human. Those who claim to enjoy beer, don’t actually. It’s really just a social ritual, a form of self deception… the impact of decades of stacked marketing to convince you that beer is anything but an alcohol delivery mechanism. You can enjoy getting sloshed. You can enjoy the social liberation that alcohol offers. You can enjoy the party. But don’t act like you actually like the taste of beer. You don’t. You might think you do. But you don’t. Because it tastes like it looks: bitter dehydrated piss, with bubbles. In the case of Guinness, like diarrhea, with bubbles. And you know it.

Surf Dracula is a massive fan of James Gunn's favorite musical artists as an explicit plot point.
> James Gunn's Surf Dracula has a sleazy Dracula with a heart of gold who loves zamrock and befriends a ragtag group of misfits to save a beachside town from an evil corporation. His entire lore and origin is rewritten but his surfing outfit and surfboard are comic accurate.

Should do it gacha style so you're never sure which one you're going to get until the movie starts. You've seen the start of the Paul one seven times, just groaning, stomping out and buying a ticket to the 7:15 show starting in a bit, praying you finally get the rare Ringo drop
The Beatles biopics producer explains the idea behind releasing all four movies at once in 2028: "We want people to be able to experience them in the cinema during the same period. Now that doesn't necessarily mean we're thinking that people will go and see all four films on the same day, but you know within the same month you might see one a week, or you might see one one weekend to the next, one the next. However you you see it, I think our hope is that people will see all four films. You know they they stand alone as individual stories of each of those four men, but they they have a cumulative power, which I think is is greater than the sum of the parts. You know, the Beatles are simply the I think the greatest band in in history, and you know we're trying trying to do our best to do them justice, so hence the four films. I don't think there's probably another band that you could legitimately say you wanted to see four films for." variety.com/2026/more/news/t…

This is the detail people who were involved in production usually tip-toe on the phrasing a bit more, but Affleck now straight up saying he thinks Snyder's family tragedy was "used as an excuse" by the studio to get him off the movie,

I swear, some people are going to be incapable of differentiating most technology from black magic in about a year because they refuse to learn what things are or how they actually work.

All the people piling on this specifically as a dig at the film's use of AI are just going to make execs more comfortable using AI because people can't actually tell what it is/isn't used for anyway.
New scene from Ben Affleck's ANIMALS is causing CONTROVERSY

Animals is a far cry from The Town or Gone Baby Gone, but far far better than the reviews I've seen suggest. Although Affleck saying he's never seen High and Low (and seemingly unaware of the similarity) is definitely awkward. The premise is great, but no attribution is weird.

It's crazy how it's 2026 and we're still getting "my involvement in this franchise gave me reason to keep going, then they killed it" stories.
Joe Manganiello reveals Ben Affleck offered him Deathstroke in a shelved Batman film. He was battling a mysterious illness and adjusting to life with an ostomy bag after a large intestine removal. In his memoir BLOODLINES, he wrote, "I just got offered the biggest role of my life," he told Sofia Vergara. Says the role was "the carrot I needed" to recover.

Ben Affleck says there’s an ongoing “tension” at DC over whether comic book movies should be made for adults or family-friendly audiences: “It seems to be an ongoing question, and I don’t know the answer: Do you go all the way to a hard-R rating like ‘Joker’? Or do it like Marvel, which does something broad, unless you’re talking about ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’? The interesting thing with the DC characters [comes down] to the legacy of Frank Miller. There seems to be more tension between, ‘Are we doing the grown-up version or the one that’s open to kids?’ There’s a risk of being a feathered fish.” Read the full cover story: wp.me/pc8uak-1lHTZ5

I keep seeing people argue Affleck is LARPing with all this, but the best proof of intelligence is the ability to predict the future, and he's hit a bullseye on a moving target in the media/tech space enough times for me to not need to question stuff like his Python proficiency
Ben Affleck reveals he writes Python, understands convolutional neural networks, worked extensively with GPUs, and used his celebrity status to get private looks at Google and OpenAI’s video models “I’ve always been kind of into computers since I was young. Then, when film started to move from analog film to digital, I became more interested in that aspect of it. The visual-effects workflow for many years has included machine learning, so I can write pretty shitty Python scripts and stuff like that. “With convolutional neural networks, which were the precursors to what the transformer can do, which is much more computation simultaneously, you would do things like look at what’s called a tensor. That’s the numerical translation of a visual image in numbers, like the batch number, the frame number and the red, green and blue values of each pixel in each frame. It’s just that simple. That numeric is called a tensor. “You’d use a convolutional neural network to identify patterns that reveal what’s called edge detection or feature extraction, which is identifying patterns well enough to know, this is where the window ledge is, so we can more easily take the green-screen image out and replace it with something. “That was familiar to me early on because, prior to Artists Equity, I had a small visual-effects company. I’ve worked with GPUs a lot too. The visual-effects guys said, ‘Hey, you should see. There are a couple: Google and this other company, OpenAI, are doing really interesting stuff with transformers in video.’ “I’ve learned that I can actually just call up and go, ‘Hey, it’s Ben Affleck. Can I come see what you’re doing?’ Sometimes people say yes, to my astonishment.”
