Some fab-boo-lous news for @browardschools students and staff. Halloween is back! 🎃@HowardHepburn has rescinded a Halloween ban sent out last week by north area Supt. Alan Strauss. See the screen shots below for details.
Has @browardschools canceled Halloween? Apparently only in the north. I heard principals got a memo saying don’t use the word Halloween. @Johnjsully’s office checked. No memo from south or central offices. But the north regional supt. did send directive. To that, I say “Boo!”👻
I often get asked whatever happened to former @browardschools Supt. Vickie Cartwright, who disappeared from the public eye after her tumultuous 18-month tenure ended. Turns out she went to FAMU Law School, graduated last spring & passed the bar exam last month. 1 of 3
Dr. Vickie Cartwright, Esq. now works as an assistant public defender in the 9th Circuit Court in Orlando. She likely took a huge pay cut, compared to her time as supt. where she made $350K. The posted salary is only $75K. 2 of 3

Might she one day bring her legal skills to @Browardschools in district's general counsel's office? Don't hold your breath. While I suppose contracts can be changed if both parties agree, her separation agreement signed in 2023 says she can't seek employment here again. 3 of 3.

I got a copy of Jennifer Andreu's correction action report from public records. @browardschools Board fired her last week related to her role in vendor selection issues cited in a Sept. 30 inspector general report. 1 of 5
The inspector general's office didn't identify specific policies Andreu violated, partly because the district lacked some key policies. For example, OIG found no policy that said district staff can't mislead the board, which the OIG alleges she did, though Andreu denies. 4 of 5

This is not the 1st time @browardschools have launched a war on Halloween, in 2023, @SuptlicataP banned employees from dressing up on Oct. 31 unless it was part of a school event. As you can tell from this post, I wasn’t a fan of that rule either.
