8 players in FBS this season have had 4 or more rushing TD in a single game. 5 of those 8 happened in the last week... 1 on Thursday, 1 on Friday and 3 on Saturday

Last year, James Madison had one of the most explosive players in the country in Wayne Knight (now at UCLA). This year they have an explosive kick returner in Michael Scott. However neither season did they have a game on NBC. Missed opportunity for network synergy….

No one is ever fulfilled in the long run funneling all of their attention into the national championship and postseason. Coaches, media, fans, etc. No title has ever been cooler than Pac-12 After Dark or Michael Crabtree or Lamar Jackson.
I understand the arguments against a 24-team CFP. The system hinges on a wider pool of teams investing to make CFP runs and ultimately contend for national titles. I'm a fan of the 12-team CFP. I also thought the sport stunk from 2015-2022, when only 2-3 teams could win titles.

The thing about 24 that bothers me most is… Who is this for? It’s not because TV was begging for it. ESPN had to be convinced. It’s not for a boatload of new cash. Losing conf champ games is gonna make this a minimal gain. It’s not because the 22nd team has any shot at a natty. It doesn’t. It’s certainly not done with the health, safety, or academic success of the players in mind since they don’t even get a say in this. It’s entirely to appease the people donating the money that keeps a financially irresponsible business model afloat. It’s discounting success so schools can say “look what your donation bought.” It’s an industry hellbent on treating investors and bosses as the customer, and customers as an infinite resource that will keep coming back no matter what.

How about @TXSTATEFOOTBALL putting up 503 yards on the ground Thursday night against Colorado State. First FBS team to rush for 500+ yards against an FBS opponent since November 2021 when Air Force ran for 511 against UNLV @OptaSTATS | @SickosCommittee

1/9 Boise State fell from #22 to #23 in the new AP Top 25 after beating Utah State 37-18. But the rank hides the real story: AP voter support for Boise actually GREW this week.

How improbable was @AztecFB win over Texas State on Saturday? In the last 30 seasons, its just the 6th time a team has won despite being outgained by 300+ yards. Also happened last season in Sam Houston's upset at Oregon State. 3rd largest differential in that span... @Stathead @SickosCommittee

Today against North Texas, @TXSTATEFOOTBALL became the only NFL/FBS/FCS team this century to have a game in which: One player threw 4+ TDs (Brad Jackson) Another ran for 3+ TDs (Davian Jackson) And another ran for 210+ yards (Torrance Burgess Jr.)

If you get this joke…
Everybody wants to know what happened with that last second in the Michigan game. Well, let me break it down for the Big Ten. You see, you got 60 seconds in a minute. And then you got 15 minutes in a quarter. You got one clock showing 0:00… Another clock still holding onto ONE SECOND… You take all of that, then you add the replay booth to the mix. And the Big Ten’s chances of explaining it so anybody understands drastically goes down! Everybody’s been making fun of Steiner Math for years. But when I tell you 141⅔%, at least you know what the number is. The Big Ten got clocks doing math that even I can’t explain. So next time there’s one second left in a Michigan game, forget trying to figure out which clock you’re supposed to be watching. CALL THE BIG BAD BOOTY DADDY. I’ll straighten the numbers out. Because the numbers don’t lie… AND STEINER MATH DON’T NEED A REPLAY REVIEW.

How unique was @TXSTATEFOOTBALL QB Brad Jackson’s season last year? He became the 12th player to have 3,000+ pass yards, 20+ pass TD, 700+ rush yards, and 15+ rush TD in the same season. But he was the only 1 of the 12 to do it while completing over 70% of their passes. @Stathead | @pac12

This is an A+ tweet…
Anyone arguing that sack rate is not heavily tied to the quarterback is fighting a losing proposition. Among quarterbacks with at least 4,500 combined regular season and postseason pass attempts, the five lowest combined sack rates in NFL history belong to: Dan Marino: 3.13% Peyton Manning: 3.19% Drew Brees: 3.83% Tom Brady: 4.42% Patrick Mahomes: 4.64% Now look at what happened to their franchises before, during and after their tenures. DAN MARINO Same team and same season: 1983 David Woodley: 10.1% 1983 Dan Marino: 3.3% Marino in 1984: 2.3% Marino's final season: 2.4% 2000 Dolphins after he retired: 6.2% PEYTON MANNING Indianapolis: 1997 Colts: 10.6% 1998 rookie Peyton: 3.7% 2010 Peyton: 2.3% 2011 Colts without Peyton: 6.2% 2012 Andrew Luck: 6.1% Denver: 2011 Broncos: 8.9% 2012 Peyton arrives: 3.5% 2015 Peyton: 4.6% 2016, first season after retirement: 6.6% DREW BREES New Orleans: 2005 Saints: 6.9% 2006 Brees arrives: 3.1% 2020 Brees: 3.2% 2021 Saints after he retired: 6.8% PATRICK MAHOMES Kansas City: 2017 Alex Smith: 6.5% 2018 Mahomes: 4.3% Same 2019 Chiefs team: Patrick Mahomes: 3.4% Matt Moore: 8.1% Mahomes' sack rate has climbed in each of the last two seasons: 2023: 4.3% 2024: 5.8% 2025: 6.3% That trend is worth watching as he returns from the major knee injury. TOM BRADY New England's injury test: 2007 Brady: 3.5% 2008 Matt Cassel: 8.3% 2009 Brady: 2.8% New England when Brady left: 2019 Brady: 4.2% 2020 Patriots: 7.8% Tampa Bay: 2019 Jameis Winston: 7.0% 2020-22 Brady: 3.1% 2023-25 Baker Mayfield: 6.5% Joe Burrow is a notable quarterback who has not been associated with a decreased sack rate. 2019 Bengals before Burrow: 7.2% 2020 rookie Joe Burrow: 7.3% Same 2025 Bengals team: Joe Burrow: 17 sacks on 276 pass plays, 6.2% Joe Flacco: 9 sacks on 265 pass plays, 3.4% Sack rate does not belong solely to the offensive line. Quarterback play is often the biggest variable.

Most pass attempts in a season. The whole Top 5 and 12 of the Top 20 are Mike Leach teams. There will only be one Coach Leach
