My girlfriend has been posting running content on Instagram and TikTok for the past few months. Still a pretty small account.
She recently posted a review of the ASICS Megablast, and someone from ASICS reached out asking for her mailing address.
We got home from our run today to a massive box on our doorstep.
FIVE pairs of shoes. Including a pair of Metaspeed Edge Tokyos in a colorway I’ve never even seen before.
She’s been so consistent with posting, and I’m just ridiculously happy for her.
How cool is that?

An AI slop channel called The Football Lens ripped the script from my video beat for beat, changing words here and there, narrated by an AI Jamie Carragher.
Not really sure what I can do about it either... they'll continue to steal from everyone.

What have the WiFi/Hotspot people done to get UCC up in a twist and running around like headless chickens shutting them down?
What is the story behind the story?

Ladies and gentlemen, after much consultation with the relevant authorities (myself included), the name has officially been upgraded from Ojok Michael to Ojok Okot! 🤣
So, good people, let’s respect the new arrangement. The man is now Ojok Okot. Please, no more Ojok Michael. That name has officially retired from active service! 😂
Is that clear? Okay. Okay! Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this important transition. 🤝🤣

The Bombo-Gulu highway corridor is quietly heading toward a far worse structural breakdown than Jinja Road. While everyone talks about the eastern approach, the northern throat through Bwaise, Kawempe, and Matugga is running out of physical room to survive. 🧵
Just been reliably informed that things are worse than reported. How the hell don't we see that and fear?
When money for NGOs was closed, some political charlatans said that they can take their money we don't need it.
Why?
Because some silly opposition guys got money to make noise?
While government was busy hiring suicide bombers.
We can deal with one two issues at once, but it seems like everything is failing.
FDI is slowing down, NGOs closing, corruption still there, foreign wars affecting everyone, rains not coming so coffee gone, will gold save us? URA harassing businesses.
Somebody help us.
Uganda’s banks are looking for borrowers. Businesses are walking away from loans.
A striking disconnect is emerging in Uganda’s credit market.
Only 8.8% of businesses applied for loans in the July–September quarter, down from 17.6% previously. Even more telling, just 4.4% expect to borrow in the quarter to December.
Yet banks expect enterprise credit demand to rise sharply—with a 72.2% net expectation of increased demand.
So, what is keeping businesses away?

Uganda once had a man whose coffin was too long for his grave.
His name was John Paul Ofwono. He was born in Yokolo Village, Tororo.
In 1999, his family claimed he was 9 feet tall. This meant he was potentially the tallest man in the world.
Guinness wanted proof.
They asked Richard Stockley of the British High Commission, Uganda to measure him. After rigorous measurements, Ofwono was shown to be 7 ft 6.5 in.
Some conspiracy theories rejected the results saying the Western world just didn't want an African to appear in the World Book of records as the tallest human alive. The record at the time was held by an American known as Robert Wadlow at 8feet and 11 inches.
Anyway, Ofwono automatically became Uganda's tallest man and a national celebrity. Some accounts show that he was the 3rd tallest person in the world.
A 1-litre Coca Cola soda bottle was nicknamed “Ofwono” because of its unusual length. He made money as a billboard ambassador for a number of brands. This changed his life and that of his family.
Where Ofwono grew up, Lakwena rebels always made people run away from their home.
One day Ofwono spotted armed Lakwena rebels feasting on mangoes by the main road in Yokolo.
Unbothered by their guns, the giant walked to the tree and picked mangoes with ease. The stunned rebels, who had never seen him before, reportedly fled in fright, with some falling to the ground.
Most escaped, while two reportedly suffered fractures and were later handed over to Government soldiers.
The incident changed residents' attitude towards the rebels, with many becoming less fearful and beginning to hunt them down.
Ofwono's love life was dramatic. His lovers kept on running away from him after a while. This was because, he never stopped growing taller.
At long last, Ofwono found love. However, he refused to go for treatment in India out of fear of losing his lover. 3R, his employer, wanted to handle his medical bill.
Ofwono died in 2003, aged 43, after suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure and a brain tumour that caused excessive growth hormone production.
At his funeral, they discovered his coffin could not fit in the grave.
The grave had to be extended by another 45 minutes before Uganda's giant could finally be buried.
John Paul Ofwono.
