> 69.3% of the web runs on PHP And only 30.7% of the web gets more than 1 visit per month.
I pre-emptively disconnected ALL my sites / VPS servers from the web I'll wait for the patch to hit at 2 PM UTC If you have a PHP website, probably good to take them down until you patch PHP 69.3% of the web runs on PHP so this is going to be intense! Good time maybe to buy cybersecurity stocks? (not financial advice)

Today's PHP vulnerabilities are the outcome of decades of human slop.

Was the idea of the hackathon to build games, or was it to build graphics engines? If it was to build games, then spending the entire time "building a raycaster by hand" feels like it's missing the point, and the vibe coder might've stuck better to the spirit of the meetup.
Recently attended an in-person handheld game console hackathon. I wrote a raycaster by hand. Someone wearing a “I ❤️ slop” tshirt saw mine and said “oh I wrote a ray caster too!”. They showed me. It was a ray *tracer* and claude did all the work. The person didn’t know basic graphics terms. They couldn’t answer basic questions about how it worked, could only talk about their prompting harness. Sad how AI is ruining the craft and community for people that actually like to program and have spent their lives getting good at it.

Interesting: GLM 5.3 Flash and DeepSeek 4.1 Flash 1017 live toward opposite poles of AA's hallucination score.

I am so tired of Pagoda benchmarks. Here's my Pagoda benchmark for DS 4.1 Flash 1017.

This is my own held-out test set, entirely distinct from anything you'll find in online evals. It's a small set of tasks, so it's useful only as a sanity/smoke-test. For anything that's close, there's a good deal of noise. For example, in my tests outside of this, DS4.1-1017 seems to edge out GLM 5.3 Flash on the hardest tasks at the higest effort levels. But GLM 5.3 Flash definitely does have a consistent place in the middle of the Pareto frontier for getting "fairly easy but not quite trivial" tasks done relatively quickly.

Replying to @Weeefee23 @Timo_NFL
Do you realize you're not arguing with anything I actually said? Are you drunk, retarded, or both?

Seriously, stop wasting your time on social media and go do something out in the real world that doesn't require literacy and thinking. What you're doing here just ain't working at all.

The biggest difference I've noticed in the behavior between DeepSeek V4.1 Flash and GLM 5.3 Flash: DS V4.1 Flash writes in proper English, using complete sentences (example below). GLM 5.3 OTOH reasons in compressed "caveman-speak". Example of proper English:

I think this represents the Chinese labs taking different approaches to the pressures of distillation. Anthropic and OpenAI made it challenging to distill reasoning in a number of ways, including e.g. summarizing reasoning rather than displaying verbatim reasoning, and so on. I suspect that Zai responded to this in GLM 5.3 primarily by leveraging exploits that work on models ~1-2 generations behind, but have been patched on more recent models (e.g., the dumb trick of "just giving it an external reasoning tool" that it ends up plugging its "actual unsummarized reasoning into"). The "native unsummarized reasoning tokens" in SOTA models are truly "caveman-like", because the leading labs have spent a LOT of recent effort on "token efficiency". OTOH, I suspect that DeepSeek responded to this instead with a different strategy: They probably distilled more requests to the model to reason in prose with thinking off or low (and possibly settled for mixing in more thinking summaries from newer models, rather than settling for native reasoning from slightly older ones). This kind of "reasoning" is more verbose because it's an output trained for human eyes rather than being meant directly for model processing. The outcome of this could plausibly be a smarter model (since it's distilled from smarter models) that's more verbose because that's a tradeoff they decided when gathering the training data.

Someone used an OpenRouter API key that I had only shared with Helicone in order to do what is _presumably_ a distillation attack on Opus 5.5 (DeepSeek Harness, Bedrock, and consitently-tiny outputs compared to large inputs suggest this wasn't stolen for daily personal use).

Seems like the day before (Oct 14) they also sent "hi" repeatedly in ~5-min intervals for a while. Maybe a liveness check? Broken cronjob? Weird that they picked a specific GPT 5.4 snapshot for that.

Wonder whether @helicone_ai / @mintlify is even searching for a breach.
