There's a funny double standard here.
With older Pokemon games, people argue that you have to play the game on its own terms and it's the player's fault for not engaging with every mechanic as intended.
But they almost never apply this thinking to modern Pokemon games.

The pokemon fandom is so funny to me because for some reason people will think games like HGSS are “overhated” when these games are more universally loved than hated I promise you people having problems with your favourite pokemon games are not that deep as it seems
hgss believers just need to accept that those games are Potentialmon like yeah in theory the game is fun, hypothetically you can rematch trainers, but in practice nobody calls & you'll get to the elite four with level 30 mons and sit in victory road killing a billion gravelers

ive always been so mixed on persona 4, but this is my biggest suggestion for improvement in P4R. the game would be better if instead of teddie being a bear he would be a gorilla. maybe renamed paceape. make his persona a giant cannon that uses zio skills. that would fix the game
