The elite media absolutely never talks about how the Mexican left utterly crushed the corrupt narco-establishment in Mexico and instituted a wildly popular democratic socialist government that’s still going strong after eight years because they wouldn’t want to give you any ideas
🚨: Mexico just went universal, 120 Million citizens now get fre healthcare- No premiums, no copays, no requirements.

NEW from @NYFiscalPolicy. Before the 2019 HSTPA, landlords gambled hard and they lost. Tenants don’t deserve (and can’t afford) rent hikes because of landlords’ bad bets. fiscalpolicy.org/is-the-rent…

I've seen enough. Universal Rent Control Now.
An affordability strategy that doesn’t prioritize rent regulation is doomed. Housing costs are American households’ biggest monthly expense, and rent is a key driver of core inflation. Now is the time for federal action to regulate rents, by any/all means necessary.

The contours of the Raman coalition are not yet clear but it’s clearly not one we have seen take form in LA before. One preliminary conclusion we can draw from her numbers and the Erickson campaign is that the westside liberal bloc is as dead as a doornail, however.

Increasingly reactionary diaspora politics also clearly a factor.

In some ways the closest recent analogue is the losing coalition in 2001’s Hahn-Villaraigosa contest.

Incredible story here. Victoria Broderick & Lakesha Womack are working-class women; Womack was homeless and living in a motel 7 years ago. They each spent less than $100k on their races. They're both going to Congress. prospect.org/2026/11/06/angi…

Not yet seen this much discussed, but Raman is clearly extremely shrewd when it comes to recognizing opportunity. She came into council under very similar circumstances, picking off a center left incumbent (Ryu) by outflanking them from the left amid voter discontent.

The organizational left in LA was by all accounts quietly preparing to run behind Hugo in 2030 after the second Bass term. But with Caruso and Beutner falling out leaving an unpopular Bass without any serious challenger, Raman clearly smelled blood and was able to do it.

Democrats have to act decisively to dismantle both the Palantir-polymarket coalition that represents the core business constituency for fascism, and to punish the monopolists and racketeers who control our groceries and housing if they want to construct a durable coalition.

Wow. A strong labor crowd breaks out into “Solidarity Forever” in the middle of Troy Jackson’s acceptance speech after winning the Senate race in Maine.

For years, landlords have taken out massive loans to buy rent stabilized buildings, telling lenders that they’d pay them back, + planning to hike rent on tenants to do so. Now w/ the rent freeze and 2019 HSTPA, they can’t, and they’re working overtime to put the blame on tenants.
