Swedens far-right party is having a pretty open conflict about whether they’re Cultural Nationalists or Ethnonationalists and it’s funny seeing very weepy far-right guys being like “you seriously believe that people aren’t Swedish just cause they have the wrong skin colour????”
I like when you get a glimpse into actual existing third worlder brain when they say like “I guess the French think it’s okay for us to make fun of Napoleon too, huh?” or “Imagine if a Muslim insulted Christianity, how would you react?” like youre supposed to be upset
this is my favourite thing china guys get upset at. you guys call yourself a “people’s democratic dictatorship” how is it some radical insult to call the leader of said state a dictator?
🚨 JUST IN: Chinese beverage company DongPeng has ended their sponsorship with Kylian Mbappé after he referred to former Chinese Premier Mao Zedong as a “dictator”.
The company stated that they have “zero tolerance” for statements that hurt national sentiment. @marca
when someone is a fan of Dostoyevsky but also doesn’t wanna kill every minority and give the tsar absolute power
There's obvious cognitive dissonance in being obsessed with art while having utter contempt for the distinct people and culture which gave rise to it.
But even in less extreme cases, these "criticisms" leveled at Japan are usually based in a superficial understanding informed by things like battle manga, pornography, and clickbait articles from the 2010s.
Moreover the people making them are usually from countries which have worse versions of the same problems (e.g. the "women-only train cars" talking point), yet they feel like they can speak with authority on such matters.
