Signed the contract for my first big girl doctor job today! It is the exact practice setup I dreamed of, with an incredible group of people, and it all came together in a way that feels like fate. I’m so grateful and excited.

Purchased a 5 pound bag of apples with my grocery delivery today. My groceries were dropped off at 3:50 p.m. There are currently no apples in my house. I live with freaking locusts. 😅

Working the next three weeks straight 😩 so I forced myself to go out last night and pretend to be a real person who still knows how to have fun.

God bless my husband. I woke up this morning and decided I needed to completely revamp my house, diet, and fitness (despite the fact that I’m working the next 18 days straight on inpatient medicine lolol), and this man is just calmly feeding my delusions without complaint.

Me: “I need to rearrange all the furniture in our bedroom and meal prep and lay out all my clothes for the week and pick up a shelving unit I manic purchased on FB marketplace at 2am.” Him: silently grabs his keys, texts that he’ll pick up my grocery order on his way home 🥰

Apparently I have done an incalculable amount of harm by calling the consulting team to consult on a patient for consulting services that they provide.

My pleasantly demented patient who has no idea who I am says “Have a good day baby, love you” every morning when I leave his room and it’s kind of the best part of my day.

My “tiny” twins had their sophomore Homecoming dance tonight. You’d never know it, but I’m actually really tall. 😆

8yo was asking me about hippies this morning. “They started in the 60s, right?” “Yes, and they were popular into the 70s.” “Were hippies around in the 80s, when you were born?” “No, not really.” 😳 “They all DIED?!?” 🤣🤣🤣

My 16yo son fractured his fibula and waited three days to tell me about it/ask if we should get x-rays, this is how much my kids respect the fact that I am a doctor. 😅

I got heavily invested in giant pumpkin/squash growing TikTok this year, in case anybody was curious about my mental state.

Ok but if I ever get admitted to my own hospital, I have given strict instructions to my colleagues that I am to be admitted to the peds floor. Biggest rooms, nicest nurses, best snacks.
pediatric hospitals are funny because of the wide range that 0-17 is. sorry, i know you're in a gang and you go hard and you got shot but you're 16 so you're going in the Winnie the Pooh room.

My program has helped me develop my own OB panel and all of my patients are Spanish-speaking, and they’ve starting sending friends to our clinic to ask for me specifically and I just 🥹🥰

Told the 8 year old, who kept coming in my room while I was trying to work: “You stayed out for all of three minutes that time.” 8yo: “Ooh, that’s my high score!” 🤣

I guess I’m weird, but this seems so fun to me and I would absolutely pay for this if I had a free weekend and it wasn’t too far away. But I love going to weddings and I will take any excuse to get dressed up.
is there something i’m not getting about this? why would anyone want to go to a strangers wedding at all never mind pay to go? why would a wedding party want paying strangers there?? it’s a wedding not the oscars??

A weird thought I had today: sometimes I’m happy when my teens act kind of selfish. I never got to do that growing up, never had a safe space where I got to act like the center of the universe. So while I’m trying to raise them to be kind and considerate, them occasionally…

…acting bratty kind of makes me feel like I’m doing something right. Them being selfish sometimes means I haven’t created a home in which they always have to worry about my feelings, and my love never feels conditional. I’m proud of that.

Once my patients hit 80 I tell them they’re “playing with house money” and we can do or not do pretty much whatever they want health-wise.
getting old is insane. we found out last week my grandpa has cancer and the doctor was just like "he's 90 years old, he says it's not bothering him, we're just gonna leave it be, otherwise we'd make him miserable" and like. yeah he's kinda right

Please note that these comments were left on a post where I said absolutely nothing about 1) Covid or 2) vaccines. I love this app! People’s brains aren’t broken at all! This is a very good and healthy way to be in this world!
