A buyer for Ninja Theory has fallen through and Xbox will now close Ninja Theory.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The exact wording in the press release is "We will now begin consultation with employees on a proposed closure while continuing to explore other paths forward.", which means closure is highly likely but still leaves room for an alternative for the time being. news.xbox.com/en-us/2026/09/…

Medallion's humming... that can only mean one thing! It's time to announce The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Songs of the Past! ⚔️ This brand new expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will take you to the Path with Geralt of Rivia once more. It’s being co-developed with @Fools_Theory and is coming to PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 in 2027. Stay tuned for more information in late summer. ⏰
Geralt of Rivia stands ready for combat. He looks over his left shoulder and unsheathes his sword. Behind him is a monster made of twisted branches and twigs with hollow eyes and an open mouth. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt logo is printed in the center, with an additional logo for Expansion Pack: Songs of the Past on a purple banner underneath.

Another @Digital_Dragons done — one of the busy ones. This year I ended up on two panels. "Gaming in a Fragmented World – War and Geopolitics" — how global instability is reshaping our industry — moderated by @vgvisionary, with @geogrify, @jerry_kotos and Mike Lucero. Then "Policy and Growth: The Next Chapter for the Polish Gaming Industry," on regulation and how studios and the state can actually work together — with Karol Zgódka (@kultura_gov_pl), Michał Czarnuch (Rymarz Zdort Maruta), @grzegorzdymek (Anshar), Adam Korgul (CDPR) and moderator Michał Fura. Shame I couldn't catch more talks — as a program council member I'd reviewed a bunch and they looked great — but the panels and back-to-back meetings ate the days. A few of those could still turn into something real. Big thanks to @PAIH_pl for the invite and for introducing me to game devs from Chile 🇨🇱 The opening party? A venue straight out of Chicago's WNDR Museum. But the best part: old #WorldOfDarkness friends I hadn't seen in years. 🥰 – at Krakow, Poland
