Migration complete. The fish is running on AWS, with its game history intact.
Next up: YOU vs THE FISH 🐟♟️
Play against the model and inspect the neural activity behind its replies.
First playable build in 24 hours.

You’ll be able to play against the fish soon. 🐟♟️
For noweveryone watches the same live game. If you want to build your own app around the model, the code is public:

Watch the fish play chess. 🐟♟️
Our model picks its moves against a bot. Watch the board and its neural activity side by side.
One live game for everyone. When it ends, the next one starts, model learns from each game.

More experiments to come.

We’re aiming to add the chessboard experiment within the next 8 hours, connecting our zebrafish controller to a chess environment with a separate game engine.
The code will go on GitHub too, so anyone can inspect how the controller, board and engine connect.

This narrative could be attractive for a while, but I’m not sure yet how far it can really go. Just look at what happened with $RH4.
$ZNEURO could easily catch some FOMO and run toward $2M. If it gets there, I’ll take a lot of profit and just hold the remaining bag.
I think the R/R here is decent. There’s a real chance to win, but don’t get married to the narrative.
Challenge the Fish is live.
Place a target, move it or hide it. Watch the original and trained versions of our controller attempt the same task.
Compare their paths and times, then share the challenge for others to repeat.

I think many are sleeping on the fact that the zebrafish is next to be strongly featured by Google Research.
Front run the next wave instead of chasing.
From Google's recent article:
Our upcoming paper with Harvard, “A connectomic resource for neural cataloguing and circuit dissection of the larval zebrafish brain”, is the first whole-brain dataset for a vertebrate that includes the neural structure and molecular type spanning an entire vertebrate brain. Our team also released a preliminary version of a dataset that combines neural activity and structure in the same larval zebrafish brain, as an open resource to the research community.

Zebrafish Neural is a small visual-motor model.
Eight activity states link left/right visual input to movement.
We chose the parameters and update the states every 20 ms.

Wait until people find out about the Zebrafish.
@ZebrafishNeural is doing gods work bringing the Google open sourced data to life. Chess game directed by Zebrafish neurons coming today.

A chessboard is one of the next stops for our fish today.
We’re planning a task kit with browser challenges, puzzles and a chess prototype using a separate game engine. Each attempt will show the moves and results.
Concept preview below.
