An all-transmasc Ironman trio just won 3rd place in a major men's triathlon, beating over 200 other men's teams. 🏊‍♂️🏃‍🚴‍♂️ Trans men win men's competitions all the time, but media doesn't pays attention because it doesn't fit their narrative. I think we should celebrate trans men's victories, too! 🏆

The UK’s “Antisemitism in Schools” report suggests that not wanting to spend time with people who openly support Israel is a form of antisemitism. At this point it is what it is, call me whatever you want to. I don’t want anything to do with people who support the genocide and ethnic cleansing of Palestine. I’m not spending time with them. I’m not being friends with them. I’m not even being cordial with them. I’m going to look at them with disgust and judge them accordingly.

What strikes me about J.K. Rowling’s essay, published on 21 October, is the sheer scale of the moral and historical importance she has assigned herself. She has effectively cast herself as a latter-day Orwell, defending objective reality against an authoritarian orthodoxy, protecting the working classes from their intellectual overlords, and rescuing feminism from people who have supposedly betrayed it. And the extraordinary thing is that she appears to regard this interpretation of events as so self-evident that it barely requires defending. There is something profoundly self-aggrandising about a billionaire presenting herself as the authentic voice of working-class women while dismissing those who disagree with her as fashionable, privileged ideologues. But the deeper problem is intellectual. Her essay constructs an entire theory of contemporary political power around a single controversy, with Rowling herself occupying the morally indispensable position at its centre. Her treatment of trade unions is particularly revealing. She cites genuine government statistics showing that graduates and higher earners are more likely to belong to unions, then leaps to the conclusion that union leadership has been captured by privileged believers in gender ideology. Those statistics establish a demographic pattern. They tell us nothing about members' views on trans rights. Her account of history is similarly selective. She describes twentieth-century civil rights movements as authentic grassroots struggles, while characterising contemporary trans activism as an elite project imposed from above. Yet feminism, gay liberation and civil rights all drew on academics, lawyers, political organisations and institutional support. She has simply written these complexities out of her historical narrative. Then there is the Orwell quotation. She invokes 1984 to suggest that disagreement over the meaning of woman is equivalent to denying elementary arithmetic. The Supreme Court's 2025 decision did establish the meaning of sex within the Equality Act, while expressly recognising continuing discrimination protections for trans people. That is a legal ruling with specific consequences, rather than the philosophical revelation she makes it out to be. And there is a distinction worth preserving. Rowling has genuinely supported survivors of sexual violence, and her charitable contributions deserve recognition. Threats and harassment directed at her are indefensible. There are legitimate arguments about privacy, safeguarding and how competing rights should be accommodated. What makes the essay so grandiose is the way she converts those questions into a struggle for civilisation itself. Anyone who shares her interpretation is defending objective reality. Anyone who challenges it is participating in an authoritarian campaign against women, whether knowingly or through ideological capture. She has constructed a political universe in which almost every institution is compromised, almost every disagreement confirms her suspicions, and her own extraordinary wealth and influence somehow reinforce her credentials as the champion of the powerless. It reads increasingly like someone who has mistaken the intensity of her personal convictions for the historical importance of her role in defending them. And that final declaration, “I remain on their side,” is particularly revealing. She has appointed herself the representative of millions of women, decided what their interests are, and assumed the authority to pronounce upon everyone else's feminism. That's quite a position for one person to confer upon herself.

Unfortunately you’re not impartial with this stance @BBC, you still have people parading poppies on air. Remove all such symbols if that’s your guideline, otherwise you’re just institutionally homophobic and transphobic leicester.news/bbc-edits-out…

Oh gosh, @RWT_NHS this is going to be an ugly, protracted and costly legal battle and doctors are going to end up being investigated for clinical negligence. It didn’t have to happen like this. I’m hoping for an inquest because that would bring it all out into the open.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know

you first! 50% salary reduction for MPs, cap expenses at bare minimum levels, scrap food & booze subsidies in the HoC and abolish the second home allowance, you can get trains to work and pay for them yourselves, like the rest of the public. we’re all in this together, aren’t we?
We are going to have to make sacrifices to defend our country. We are going to have to get welfare spending under control👇

What does "legitimate" even mean here? The Electoral Commission found massive breaches of electoral laws. It was the biggest case of electoral fraud in at least a century. And that's *before* considering question of Russian interference.

It’s getting very hard to ignore the growing, statistically significant amounts of people who are actual fools that buy into the Reform narrative. What they’re selling, too many people are buying.
Robert, every day you reduce the UK’s problems to one convenient scapegoat: immigration. NHS waiting lists, crime, housing, stagnant growth, public services, all supposedly solved if we simply deport enough people. You know that isn’t true. It’s populism in its simplest form: invent one problem, blame it for everything, then present yourself as the solution. You’re not treating the British public with respect. You’re treating them as fools.

.@metpoliceuk needs to start lifting every single one of these psycho génocidaires They pose a clear and present danger to British national security
A four-month investigation by Declassified UK revealed that Jonathan Burman, a British national from Manchester, served in the Israeli military during the genocide in Gaza. Images posted to his Instagram show Burman, linked to the 55th Reserve Paratrooper Brigade, in front of the burning Al-Farabi primary school in Khan Younis, an UNRWA facility previously used by displaced civilians. Under the Geneva Convention, wanton destruction of property constitutes a war crime. With over 2,000 Britons having served in the Israeli army, UN commissioner Chris Sidoti stated the UK Met Police should investigate Burman.

The BBC needs to learn that platforming someone like Rowling — whose dearest wish is to legislate trans people out of existence — is a grotesque thing to do.
#HarryPotter author J.K. Rowling is the subject of an upcoming BBC docuseries. It will trace her “dramatic rise, cultural influence and contested legacy, using her life as a lens through which to explore three decades of profound social, political and technological change.” variety.com/2026/tv/global/j…

Love that @bungiestudios are bringing D2 back to life, almost got excited until I remembered that it won’t install on SteamOS because of the anti-cheat incompatibility. Sorry Bungie, I’m not going back to Windows. Life without it is good. And I’m not paying a monthly sub to PSN.

Oh I don’t… I cancelled it about 12 years ago. I’ve found live broadcast TV and iPlayer quite easy to live without. Just can’t stomach my money contributing towards the damaging bias in BBC News and now this bullshit Jack describes.
- cancelled drag race - blurred out a trans ally t shirt - new doc on JK Rowling Why exactly should LGBTQ+ people pay the licence fee? @BBC

This is where we are in the UK in 2026. A volunteer for the RNLI loses his life and there's lowlife cretins who react with laughing emojis. Laughing at the death of someone who volunteers to save lives. Absolute scum.

This is incredibly delusional. Beyond so where energy, water and post are concerned.
Every single privatised industry that was once publicly owned greatly improved under privatisation. The hankering for public ownership as some form of remedy to the countries ills is pure fantasy.

I guess my local delivery office is having another run on sick leave seeing as we’ve not seen anything remotely shaped like a letter for over a week now. The privatisation of @RoyalMail was such a success wasn’t it 🤪

Why aren’t @Nintendo doing something along these lines with the limited edition Ocarina of Time Switch 2s? So many of the pre-orders are already listed on eBay.

Certainly way past time that @UKLFI were proscribed. The way they weaponise the law and legal threats to suppress criticism of genocide deserves action to be taken against them.

This is a prime example of someone who lives their life online instead of interacting with the real world. Existing entirely online and absorbing internet based opinions and social media excessively is how you end up with such a warped view of reality.
ANDY BURNHAM YOU C**T INSTEAD OF CUTTING THE PENSION WHAT PEOPLE HAVE PAID INTO HOW ABOUT SENDING ALL THE FUCKING ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS BACK.AND PUT THE RETIRING AGE DOWN AND GET THE YOUNG PEOPLE IN TO WORK INSTEAD OF LIVING OF BENIFITS .DO SOMETHING. STOP WASTING TAX PAYERS MONEY.
