France puts Big Tech on notice as violent protests grip the country and calls for new riots spread online.
From Pink Panther to looted luxury goods for sale – French officials are pushing Meta, TikTok, and others to monitor user posts.

That viral footage of the Pink Panther during the French riot is fake.
Fact checkers from BBC Verify have confirmed that the circulating images of a protester in a full character costume running from authorities in Paris are completely fabricated.
Forensic analysis utilizing artificial intelligence detection software indicates that these hyperrealistic pictures were produced by AI image generators.
The fact that this synthetic media went so incredibly viral highlights how difficult it is for people to spot AI and just how rapidly it can fuel the spread of misinformation during times of public unrest.

The ShinyHunters' FBI countdown continues.
The hackers tell me they've released "a new and final statement" – claiming the group "got what we wanted" but that it's time to go back to business.
