Beyond excited to be launching a new product today.
It's called Roux (pronounce it "roo"). I'm a South Louisiana boy, and where I'm from, a roux is how every good gumbo starts. Everything else in the pot builds on it.
That's exactly how we use Roux, in our client work at Gumbo: send out a roux to collect inputs from all of the stakeholders, then build on the results.
We use it for product dev kickoffs, budget planning, sourcing new ideas from our team....every role at Gumbo uses it.
So we decided to make this one public and give out some free starter credits!
Go test it out and let us know what you think! DM's are open.

Conference evals get a lot of "it was fine."
Roux asks the follow-up: what would have made it worth the trip? Every answer updates one live report, so your team sees patterns while the event is still running.

Here's the new Claude experience on the iPhone Duo! It's going to be amazing for multitasking, Claude Code, and creating new things.
Looking forward to see folk start using it tomorrow!

Q4 is when every team gets asked "what do you need next year?" in six different meetings.
Send one Roux. It asks each team the follow-ups and you get a single planning brief back before the first budget review.

🚨BREAKING: The NFL announces it will play its first international game of the 2027 season in Tehran.
"We continue to work closely with local authorities and partners on all operational and security matters. There’s been no disruption or impact at league sites."

Forward-deployed engineers can do more than ship a feature. Working inside Dermsquared’s team, we helped move its conference app and learning experience forward together. We built a year-round customer experience that doesn't just stop when the conference ends.
Big fan of this partnership and looking forward to the next era of building for Dermsquared: hellogumbo.com/case-studies/…

Working out how best to use AI in mathematics research—and in science more generally—will take time, effort, and resources. We’re eager to support mathematicians as they drive scientific progress and define the future of their field.
We’ve committed $5 million of funding, compute, and Claude access to help the math community navigate the massive changes that AI brings. We’re partnering with @SimonsFdn, who will manage the award through a community-driven approach, supporting workshops, conferences, and lectures by domain experts.

How can the math community forge the best path forward in the AI age? We're committing $15M to workshops and initiatives — plus free AI computing resources for foundation-supported researchers — through new partnerships with @AnthropicAI and @OpenAI: bit.ly/4zpfIbW

becoming more convinced that competing with AI product companies outside of SF/YC bubble is futile. especially when bootstrapping.
but what to do with all of this intelligence? maybe we should try to cure cancer or something.
one question in my ChatGPT task + one Roux sent to the team + one summary back before kickoff.
that's how I walk into project kickoffs two steps ahead now. (we've got several of these in October...been busy at Gumbo!)
feels like Roux is an unlock for any consultant

Hackathons with @stevecaldwell are my favorite excuse to try something new. The last one turned into Roux for ChatGPT and Codex, and I'm kind of stoked on how the page came out. Check it: helloroux.com/chatgpt
and if you're working at a startup...
and you don't work this way...
you're doing it wrong
give your team freedom to care and execute
One of the most compelling parts about working at an ElonCo was the agility to pivot to whatever the most important problem was.
One day I said: I wasn’t hired to go after spam, but a tsunami is coming and I’m going to drop everything to focus on that.
The org is so flat and agile that your title is basically meaningless. Anyone can sound the alarm about a problem and solve it themselves—or rally the team to join them.
This is how startups work but it’s very hard to make it work in a larger company.
98% of US households aren't paying for AI yet

Introducing our State of Markets pt 2, along with a companion podcast where we unpack the data and discuss what comes next.
Tech is the everything cycle.
Supply: putting the buildout in context, just passed railroads as % of GDP. The wisdom of Elon is real: the factory (or the datacenter!) is the product.
Demand: diffusion is so, so early. Median AI vendor spending in the top 1% of companies is 8x that of the top 10%. Only about 30% of S&P 500 companies report a quantified AI impact, which means there’s a substantial opportunity in connecting models to a company's data and workflows. Diffusion into companies is one of the main themes of the next 5 years.
We’re entering the agent work period. Only a few million users today, but applicable to billions of internet users with massive surplus created. META/GOOG monetize US users at $200+ per year today. Agent opportunity is much higher.
Mega-trends the next 5 years: Consumer agents, Robotics, Autonomy, AI x bio, Personal health, Diffusion into enterprise, New era of American Dynamism.
