I’m going to revisit this post in lieu of Gary Sanchez’ mutual being declined by the team. Remember that Gary was slotted in to try and be the “big bopper” off the bench and win that game. Also remember that Jackson Chourio was the batter who won the game right after Sanchez was at the plate. Sanchez’ maturity in that at-bat is a major reason why this team won it all, and that moment does not deserve to fall to the wayside. No Gary Sanchez, who knows what we’re talking about right now. Thank you Gary! You’re a world champion forever!

One thing I’ve noticed nearly nobody is talking about regarding yesterday: We need to appreciate the Gary Sanchez at-bat. He could’ve very easily tried to play hero ball there. He could’ve went to the dish and took three mighty hacks and ended the game sitting down. But he didn’t. He was patient. He watched. He fought. He had an at-bat that helped Chourio with timing and with sequencing. He was the set-up guy to enhance the pressure on the Padres and Mason Miller. In the grand scheme of things, Sanchez’ at-bat might have a case for the greatest Brewers’ postseason at-bat in the last few years, and quite possibly ever.
