Clearly haven't tasted the wonders of a sunbelt light sheet, smh. Skill issue
You have to be a fucking psychopath to prefer nasty bugs and 100°F weather and sweating over this

Texas cholla grasshopper, which seems to be obligately tied to pencil cholla, endemic to S. & C. Texas! One of the most unique hoppers in the state. Chloroplus cactocaetes, Jim Wells Co., nr. Mathis, TX, USA. Anyhow, I'm over on the 🔵🌁 app now - same name.

Much of the habitat along the LRGV Rio Grande on the US side exists nowhere else - in many stretches it's much more destroyed and nonexistent on the Mexican side. These narrow preserves along the river, many which are slated for wall destruction, is all we have left.
Every acre of habitat left in the Rio Grande Valley is irreplaceable. We can’t afford to lose more of it to a useless, medieval wall that won’t do a thing to stop immigration or smuggling. BIDEN WAVES 26 LAWS TO RUSH BORDER WALL CONSTRUCTION IN TX: tpr.org/border-immigration/2…

The best time to preserve our southernmost borderlands was a century ago. The second best time is now. There's no more of it hiding around in the tropics or anything. This is all we have!!

Real cool species of Lasius that builds foot-tall dirt mounds in northeastern bogs and fens! Named for their absolutely tiny queens which are to scale here - only slightly larger than males and workers! Lasius minutus nr. Cortland, NY, USA.

An excellent global traveler of a ponerine, widespread on the Gulf Coast US. I often find these under paving stones in residential areas, where they do extremely well. Hypoponera opaciceps Cypress, TX, USA.

Tons of voter suppression going on in the most diverse city in the USA! Every time I'm unable to vote because they mail absentee ballots out like 3 days before an election I feel proud to be an American

From earlier today—another military escalation on the border by Governor Abbott. This time in Brownsville. OLS press release from yesterday goes on about stopping drugs at the border. All relevant federal agencies continue to report that drugs are coming in almost exclusively through the bridges on cars and trucks. They are not being brought on foot, and not by migrants seeking asylum.
BREAKING: @TxDPS @GregAbbott_TX bringing in a massive show of force on a P-D-I operation “prevent, deter, interdict” lining the banks of the Rio Grande in Brownsville w more than 50 TX NG Humvees arriving now @FoxNews
