I don't actually agree with Carbon Capture and Storage but this is a shambles
Labour's Acorn project fiasco raises a litany of questions Questions also remain as to why grants have been altered for the Scottish project while the UK Gov has simultaneously committed to “maintaining” them for the Viking cluster in t north of England

Why is it only the Scottish carbon capture scheme that has had it’s direct grants withdrawn while the other non-Scottish schemes have had their grants protected? We can see through your anti-Scottish bullshit Martin. We see the truth. You prostituted yourself for a whiff of power

@theSNP Add to this the Grangemouth story, the failure to raise funding by AMTE Power, that hydrogen truck company in Glasgow and a bunch of other projects then I simply don't understand why people can't see Scotland is being progressively weakened industrially & economically.

The comms around this have been a mess. It is quite incredible that this is being spun as very little has changed. Grant funding and loans/equity are not equivalent. Almost 24 hours later and we are still trying to have key questions answered. Article to come!

Word soup Martin. The existing grant may well be still active but the next stage funding will be loan based & include equity stakes. You're changing the rules of the game for Acorn but not for other CCS projects in England. Why? The answer must be because you want to kill it off

Just how could @JohnHealey_MP visit St Fergus ( as seen here) a short time ago, and meet with workers, surely knowing full well that he was about to shaft them in his budget?
It doesn't matter which party is in power at Westminster. Scots shafted again.

The Budget also betrays carbon capture in Scotland, and will cut the Scottish Government's budget by around £650 million next year.
Yet again, Scotland has been treated as an afterthought.

So Joani Reid is married to a Chinese spy, had an affair with a military nuclear sub captain, and also an editor of a significant Scottish newspaper, and nobody thinks that's a big story?

Hi @mgshanks - the position seems very confused, can you clarify?

The propaganda comedy that is debate night.
Pathetic effort at political discussion instead a never ending diatribe of Scotland bad, Scottish bad.
Westminster controlled satanism- take your devilment elsewhere and do us all a favour- take Shanks with you. 🙄🤥

Maybe if they weren’t so Anti Scottish they might attract more listeners. They are the most Anti Scottish organisation in Scotland with the exception of the Express and the Mail.

The problem with devolution right there.
Idiots think the Scottish government has the resources to pick up the slack every time the UK Gov let us down.
The Scottish Government is judged like a normal government by too many people.

Local piemaker explains how Burnham's first Budget will make things much worse:
"I don’t qualify for the business rates relief because I’m multi-site… I’ve got two shops, so I don’t qualify. The minimum wage has increased. I’m not saying we shouldn’t pay staff. I’m saying we can’t afford to pay them…
All my staff have been with us for years. So I’m going to have approximately a £700 a week increase. My suppliers are having an increase too. My supply bills are around £20,000 to £30,000 a week. That’ll go up 10%, so £2,000 to £3,000 a week. So that’s £4,000 a week I’ve got to find…
That’s about 20,000 to 30,000 pies a week. So my costs have gone up. I’ve got no business rates relief. The National Insurance is crippling me. The energy crisis is crippling me. I’m going to have to put my prices up,
Customers are going to get mad. I’m going to get less profit. As a family, as a director, I’ve got to take a 2% cut. So my family, my one-year-old girl. I’m taking a pay cut. The business is taking a pay cut.
How is that breathing room for me? Where’s my breathing space? John Healey, if you’re listening, where’s my breathing space? You promised me. You promised the UK breathing space. Where is it?"

Six years ago, Yaxley Lennon harassed Byline writers Mike Stuchbery and Tim Fenton so badly that they eventually left the country. (He also promised to pay me a visit!)
Anyone condoning these kinds of tactics doesn't believe in a free press. It's a license for thuggery.
