Well done to Edward. Twice-a-week he goes out with a team from his supported living accommodation and cleans up the area nearby - which is close to one of the city's busiest retail parks. 👏♻️

"We believe the evidence heard during this inquest demonstrates the need for a national review of guidance and training on mental health issues in police custody so that meaningful lessons are learned and similar failures are not repeated.”

Sometimes this stuff is literally about lives & deaths✔️
It is also sometimes about the lack of the required knowledge & experience & legal literacy & willingness & wilful ignorance✔️

In this raw and personal account, Graham Sims writes for us about being diagnosed with terminal cancer and his treatment since.
He very bravely wanted to tell his story, and our hope is this helps anyone else going through this situation

“SUMMARY OF CORONER’S CONCERN
I am concerned that the Trust routinely is unable to secure acute psychiatric beds for vulnerable patients who are waiting for an assessment under the Mental Health Act.”

Powerful third and final episode of Time
on BBC 1 this evening.
Not an easy watch and often very bleak but with
some rays of hope in the final moments.
Brilliant cast and writing, thank you to everyone
involved in bringing this to the screen.

Serious, chronic shortage of MH beds pervades the whole system and drags down quality across the board. Decisions become resource driven instead of needs led. Admissions are delayed, discharges are premature. Inappropriate risk taking all over the show.

2) In addition to governance failings specific to EPUT, we have the long running national car crash of insufficient mental health beds. Cut far, far beyond the bone.
Death of Jack Peatling at EPUT - no bed SIX days after MHA assessment despite high risk

A long shot...Last Wednesday, I left a small grey hardshell suitcase on a train from London St Pancras to Cambridge between 5-6pm
The thing in it I'm most upset about losing is a five-year journal in which I've recorded moments with my daughter (now 7) that have made me laugh or smile, and how she's changed. I like to read them back to her so she knows how precious she is.
Nothing has turned up through the train companies' lost property systems yet, and I know that may take a while, but I don't want to leave a stone unturned. Any bright ideas? Know this is a long shot. @TLRailUK @GNRailUK
Consider it #FreeCPD & vote & maybe learn something useful✔️
*I know the answer btw✔️
POLICE OFFICERS ONLY, PLEASE -
If a DR decided, with an AMHP/L&D nurse, that a MHA assessment was not required on a suspect for a serious crime, can it be lawful for the police to use s136 when the suspect is released on bail if the officers have concerns about risk?
Please RT.
33%No - not 'sectionable'.
67%Yes - if 136 grounds met.

Why cameras in mental health bedrooms are under scrutiny
Cameras are monitoring patients in NHS mental health bedrooms, but concerns over consent, privacy and staff reliance are now under scrutiny, writes @AyshahTull.
