My most anticipated indie game of the year. If you have not yet checked out the demo, it is a must play!
I’ve been slowly selling off my entire PS5 physical collection over the past few months and I realized that there was only ONE game that I felt was worth keeping because of its exclusivity. The game is Astro Bot, which ironically, happens to be a love letter to everything PlayStation once was but no longer is.
Over the last few years it seems like the quality bar for indie games has increasing greatly while at the same time the quality bar for AAA has significantly decreased. What timeline is this?
Why is the timeline suddenly getting clogged with this new trend of chatgpt two-liners? So annoying.
Trying to decide if I want to spend the next 2 hours refactoring a gameplay mechanic or playing Parasite Eve
I made a local plugin for PCSX2 that visualizes all mesh geometry during runtime. Its been really useful for revealing the tricks game devs used back then to achieve certain effects despite PS2 hardware limitations.
We need more studios to create and release more official recompiles of classic games with qol improvements, better frame rate, and higher resolution. Remakes are tired.
If Sony announcing the end of physical media for games has taught me anything, it's that there have been millions of people asleep at the wheel when it comes to digital purchasing, and only now have realized they don't actually own those purchases, and are grasping at any delusional take as a way to cope. Going all digital is good for no one.
There isn’t a reality in which anyone can convince me that purchasing digital games is superior to buying physical. My favourite part of the debate is watching digital diehards explain why having fewer rights over something I paid for is actually a tremendous consumer benefit lol. If digital ownership is so clearly better for me, it’s curious that every argument in its favour seems to revolve around what’s more convenient, profitable, or controllable for the publisher.
Square Enix about to gas lit to hell by their QA testers.
Square Enix is working with Google to use AI for testing video games, the project is also backed by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
The company has introduced an AI-powered QA system built with Google Gemini, the AI can play a game, understand on-screen events, listen to sounds, check the map and control the character while searching for problems.
They want to automate repetitive testing tasks such as finding bugs, checking graphics and verifying text.
Square Enix says the technology could reduce the work for developers and testers, freeing them to focus on other aspects of game development.
Seeing a lot of odd takes on the new Quake release yesterday. Mostly in the "Wish this was a remake of Quake, but its still awesome." camp. This is the definition of missing the forrest through the trees.
One of the main reasons the new release is so great, is that it is NOT another remake, while at the same time, expanding the content of the original, introducing new lore, new weapons, new enemies, and evolving the level design to be far more intricate and puzzle-like. And it also happens to be a free update to current Quake owners.
Think about that. No other AAA devs are really doing this with any of their older IPs and I wish more would. Quake is special in this regard. If it's not broke, don't try to fix it. Just keep building on it.
Quake doesn’t need a remake, it NEEDS a sequel in the exact same engine and graphical style. The gameplay is perfect and the graphical style is timeless! @idSoftware @machinegames Please give us a massive new episodic campaign in the same engine! Dawn of the Machine is perfection!!

Shigeru Miyamoto says developers shouldn’t worry so much about making games for everyone.
In a recent interview with Famitsu, the Nintendo legend said, “If developers try to make something the world will like, it becomes generic.”
Instead, he believes the best games come from personal ideas and passions.
“The most ‘local’ things – like an individual’s personal hobbies – are often the ones that resonate globally.”
“If you try to base your work on things that only seem to have broad appeal, you end up with something generic”
He used Pokémon as the perfect example. The franchise became a worldwide hit because it came from Satoshi Tajiri’s childhood love of collecting insects
Man. I don't know what has to be going through someone's head to create a post like this as a way to "market" their game. I felt genuine excitement for them and even downloaded their demo to try it out. Not only was the demo awful (no actual gameplay) but this post was a complete lie. They have only had like 33 players max. Shameful.
There's literally NO WAY my game demo is beating Halo's concurrent players RN😂😂😂😂😂🤣
Dog my game is made with a $0 budget 🤣😀
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANKS EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The Steam player count in the screenshot is fabricated. According to SteamDB data, the "B.C. Piezophile Demo" has an all-time peak of only 33 concurrent players, rather than the 72,601 claimed. steamdb.info/app/3009420/ch…
