I feel like there's something a little inauthentic about asking a bunch of questions and getting increasingly mad you're not getting any in return. It's like, you're inhabiting the inquisitive role. Just give it up for a second, try making a comment. The guy might surprise you

I don't think it's possible to suggest a rule change to a sport that fans of that sport will actually like. It sucks because I have a lot of REALLY good ideas.

Extremely funny to watch northernlion, a legitimately world class communicator, completely lose the ability to explain anything when playing 2 player puzzle games with his wife

Sometimes when I'm feeling really persecuted by life I like to express my thanatos by having a bowl of cereal instead of cooking breakfast

isn't being well-read and cultured supposed to give you an appreciation for the diversity of human experience, maybe teach you not to stereotype and caricature people you're unfamiliar with?
Tech people will never have taste because they didn’t spend their formative years discovering new bands, flipping through old magazines, watching obscure movies and reading books that weren’t required for English class. They don’t understand taste is cultivated over a lifetime.

So I've got some bad news,
I’m quite unhappy with much of what OpenAI does. I am very happy that I’m allowed to say “I’m quite unhappy with much of what OpenAI does.”
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Korbak was fired ~3 weeks later. He says for safety concerns/METR talks (his job); OpenAI says mishandling sensitive info, not for speaking out. x.com/tomekkorbak/st… x.com/OpenAINewsroom…

I mostly don't use the claude code suggestions because they don't include the word "please"

some ppl object to expressing uncertainty as a number. to make them happy but retain precision and clarity, i propose: "maybe" = 50%, "maaybe" = 49%, etc.; -1% per a "probably" = 90%, "proobably" = 89%, etc.; -1% per o "definitely" = 91%, "deefinitely" = 92%, etc.; +1% per e

I think Scott is being tone-policed over a relatively mild and extremely defensible expression of his irritation because people don't want to engage with his arguments, because they're strong
