Can you see what one of the farms fox cubs is interested in? What a gorgeous animal. Totally oblivious to me hiding until to walked within 2 meters of me, humans bad, off it runs and I can’t disagree with it 🤔
This is a very important point at the end of the thread

This is hard to predict, but it seems to have (at least) boosted considerably the visibility of many voices of the Brazilian far right. The opening part of Lula's victory speech last night started precisely with the need to regulate social media companies in Brazil. Some hope.

My relief is real, but this victory creates an opportunity that still has to be secured. Better lives at home, stronger democratic institutions and lasting international partnerships will determine whether Lula's fourth mandate leaves more than another electoral reprieve. 19/19

Autonomy needs more than diplomatic ambition. It requires industrial capacity, technological choices, diverse partners and the means to withstand pressure. Dependence on China can constrain choices too. Success is measured by how much room Brazil gains to act. 16/...

For the Global South, Lula's victory preserves an advocate for reform across BRICS, the G20 and the UN. The opportunity is to connect countries around specific demands on finance, trade and representation. Claims to speak for a united South will achieve much less. 15/...

Brazil and Mexico face different constraints. Mexico must defend its choices within deep US economic integration; Brazil balances a wider mix of partners and dependencies. Cooperation can strengthen both, without requiring identical foreign policies. 14/...

China bought almost 30% of Brazil's exports in January-September 2026. A Bolsonaro presidency would also have had to accommodate that relationship. Leaders shape foreign policy, but trade, investment and domestic interests constrain how far ideological alignment can go. 13/...

Lula's victory is a setback for Trump's 'Donroe doctrine': the effort to consolidate US primacy in the Americas. Brazil remains outside a politically aligned bloc. Washington still has the power to apply pressure, but its preferred regional order is far from inevitable. 12/...

For Latin America, the result preserves an important centre of diplomatic autonomy. Brazil and Mexico, its two largest economies, can resist pressure and widen options for their neighbours. Their weight matters in a region where countries face coercion very unevenly. 11/...
Another important point on the LatAm region's Centre of diplomatic Autonomy and policy space afforded by BR and MX to their neighbours

One of the most impotant lessons - formal voting rights depend on material conditions. Who does exclusion fall hardest upon?
Replying to @gb_decarvalho
This carries a wider democratic lesson. Formal voting rights depend on material conditions: transport, time, safety and accessible institutions. When those fail, exclusion falls hardest on people with fewer resources. Electoral integrity includes access to the ballot. 6/...

Lula's victory is deeply personal for me. Above all, I feel relief: Brazil has prevented the far right from returning to the presidency, alongside a strengthened right in Congress. But the result also exposes challenges facing democracies far beyond Brazil. 1/....

We cannot have monstrously huge corporations earning millions & billions, paying no taxes to this country & trying to steer this country's election results."
