MAGGIE MACNEIL
Named Canada’s female swimmer of the year.
And what a year it was.
She won a bronze, silver and a gold in her signature event, the 100 butterfly at the Tokyo Olympics. cbc.ca/sports/olympics/summe…

It's been a remarkable journey. Resilient Passionate Bonded in ways not asked for but welcomed. @CDNParalympics had 👀 of #Paralympics to elevate motivate & unite & they did just that as did our team @cbcsports. Proud of what we've done & how much more we will do.

Canadian Olympic athletes who won medals in either Tokyo or Beijing are being financially rewarded for their efforts — $20,000 for a gold, $15,000 for a silver and $10,000 for a bronze
Canadian Paralympians who reached the podium in those same Games won't receive a single dollar

Later today.
My @cbcsports story on why Canada's Paralympians do not receive any money for winning medals -- and why Canada's Olympians do.
And how this could be the last Games cycle that's the case.

We have lost another Canadian coaching giant. Former national team head coach Deryk Snelling, an International Swimming Hall of Famer, has passed away. Our condolences to his family and all who knew him in the swimming world.

It would cost $340,000 to give our @CDNParalympics medalists the same bonuses (20k, 15k, 10k) that our @TeamCanada Olympic athletes got.
Not doing it is a choice, and we should think about what message that choice sends.
