£40 MILLION COCAINE SHIPMENT SEIZED AT SEA – 12 CRIMINALS JAILED FOR MORE THAN 100 YEARS
Twelve members of an organised crime group have been sentenced to a combined total of more than 100 years behind bars after attempting to smuggle half a tonne of cocaine into the UK.
The gang arranged for 500kg of cocaine, worth an estimated £40 million, to be dropped into the sea by a container ship before a crew attempted to recover it using a specially acquired speedboat.
The 16 bales, containing cocaine with a purity of approximately 85%, were fitted with GPS trackers and dropped around 40 nautical miles south of the Needles, off the Isle of Wight.
On 19 August 2024, NCA officers were waiting as members of the gang brought the cocaine ashore at Medmerry Beach, near Selsey in West Sussex.
The operation exposed an elaborate international smuggling plot involving boat crews, drivers, equipment suppliers and a network of individuals tasked with recovering and distributing the drugs.
The main sentences included:
Daniel Jamieson, 41: 22 years.
Sam Brown, 33: 16 years and 6 months.
David Paterson, 49: 14 years.
Lewis Watts, 37: 14 years.
Carl Powner, 62: 13 years.
Adil Nolan, 40: 11 years and 3 months.
Harry Kennedy, 38: 9 years.
Five further defendants were sentenced for assisting an organised crime group, including four receiving immediate prison sentences and one receiving a suspended sentence.
One of the key offenders, Carl Powner, fled abroad after the failed operation but was eventually tracked down and arrested in Romania before being extradited to the UK.
The NCA investigation dismantled the conspiracy and prevented an estimated £40 million cocaine shipment from reaching criminal networks across the country.
More than 100 years in prison. Half a tonne of cocaine seized. A £40 million operation brought down.

🇧🇷 A Brazilian mayor went to investigate why hospital patients were waiting so long and ended up walking straight into a soap opera!
He found two doctors in a staff room, accused them of getting romantic, and announced they were fired.
The doctors' union says they were just resting after a 12-hour shift.
I have a feeling the hospital's legal department is about to become its busiest ward😂

ONE-SOCKED DEALER CAUGHT HIDING DRUGS IN HIS CAR ENGINE
A cocaine dealer who tried to conceal Class A drugs in his sock, around his car’s cooling pipes and inside the air intake has been jailed for 47 months.
Reece Bullmore, 29, of Burnham Drive, Leicestershire, was stopped by armed police officers while driving his Audi A4 on Nottingham Road, Nottingham, shortly after 4pm.
An off-duty officer had alerted police after noticing a strong smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle and seeing Bullmore counting a large amount of cash.
A search uncovered cocaine hidden inside Bullmore’s sock. Officers then noticed he was only wearing one sock – and suspected there was more to find.
With the help of a police dog, officers discovered cannabis in the centre console before searching under the bonnet.
There, they found another sock tied around the cooling pipes containing Class A drugs. A further stash was discovered hidden inside the car’s air intake.
Bullmore was arrested and charged with three counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
He appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on 3 November and was sentenced to 47 MONTHS IN PRISON.
A case of one sock too many.

Four men who carried out a series of mobile phone robberies across London have been sentenced after a fast-paced Metropolitan Police investigation. One of the gang’s ringleaders, Sammie Govera, was jailed for 13 years and 6 months.
As commented on before, Apple phones in stores have their own software designed to lock a phone down and track if removed from the store. But as can be seen in @CrimeLdn posts (attached) yet they still steal them. 🫣

🇨🇳 China's BYD just became the FIRST carmaker to break the 500 km/h barrier with a production car.
And it did it with an ELECTRIC vehicle.
The Yangwang U9 Xtreme hit an astonishing **503.17 km/h (312.65 mph)** on a closed highway in Abu Dhabi, with German racing driver Marc Basseng behind the wheel.
Nearly 3,000 horsepower. Four electric motors. And a new FIA-recognized speed record.
For decades, European supercar manufacturers dominated the race for outright speed.
Now a Chinese EV has crossed a barrier none of them managed to break.
