I'm mostly lurking around here these days. But I want to give Chi journos a heads up that we're hiring @CityCastChicago. Come write the Hey Chicago newsletter and work with the best team around. apply.workable.com/city-cast…
So we have started to collect this list:
🎧 In the pod: chicago.citycast.fm/podcasts…
💻 And in the newsletter: chicago.citycast.fm/newslett…
But we're not done with this. Clearly we are going through it, and we will have more crying resources to come 👀
Inspired by @AlexNitkin, we are indeed putting together a list of best places in Chicago to cry in public for @CityCastChicago. Tell us yours at (773) 780-0246
Maybe it's because I just know a lot of journalists. Or maybe we're the only ones left on this app. But are y'all okay?!?

We finally got to roller skate!!
Chicago roller skaters have been called the smoothest skaters for their intricate footwork, elaborate routines, & signature swagger.
We visit @MLKSkating in Auburn Gresham with Chicago legend Theresa “Sweet T” Ferrell, aka host @JacobyCochran's mother.

Chicago currently has the world's worst air quality due to fires in Canada. That means, if you can:
- Stay inside
- Close your windows
- Use a mask if you have to go outside
- Stay hydrated
- Run a/c or a fan with a filter
- Don't push yourself
Sincerely, a former West Coaster
Here's what @ChicagosMayor is saying: xitter.cf/ChicagosMayor/status/1…
No mention so far of any smoke shelters like you'd see for heat...but in my experience, libraries are always a good option.
Update: It looks like the city is providing some indoor resources xitter.cf/ChicagoOEMC/status/167…
ICYMI @CityCastChicago talked with @Amanda_Kass about the problems with Chi's pension funds and why we're always talking about them bit.ly/city-cast-chicago-pen…
The working group formed by Mayor Brandon Johnson to tackle Chicago’s acutely underfunded pensions is set to meet for the first time this week to confront one of the major fiscal challenges facing Chicago’s new leader.

I don't know about you, but I always need more poetry in my life. So restorative to talk with Chi's first-ever poet laureate
Host @JacobyCochran sat down with @beblk to learn about Chicago’s poetry scene. Plus, we get some tips for crafting our own poems!

We've got an ep on school closures coming up, and I am trying to think of a generous reason why Chicago Board of Education meeting videos from Spring and Summer 2013 might be "unavailable/private"...but gotta say...I'm feeling mighty suspicious.

.@CityCastChicago is talking to Douglass Park neighbors about @RiotFest. And we know a lot of folks don't want the fest in the park...but are there are any residents who like having it there? Would be sad to see it go?
We want to hear from you. Text us at (773) 780-0246.
I'm not crying, you're crying 😭
Love our friends at Axios and looking forward to having Carrie in my inbox. But I miss her already as Our Fearless Leader™️
The Last two years have been a honor to work w/ @JacobyCochran @svalicea and @sidney_madden_ to create @CityCastChicago. This team is so damn talented. And man do we have fun! Love them and the incredible pod and newsletter they make. Subscribe! chicago.citycast.fm/
Guys I think I might start getting into birds?
Beginning in 2019, two names dominated headlines and became a love story Chicago could get behind. Monty and Rose were piping plovers who came to nest, and fell in love, at Montrose Beach.

Is there anything more disappointing than having to wake up early post-election, getting too distracted to pour yourself coffee, the coffee gets cold...and there are grounds in the brew 😭
On the plus side, today's @CityCastChicago is hot and fresh ☕ pod.link/citycastchicago
But @JacobyCochran...where are the conservatory pics 👀📷🌷
Host @JacobyCochran , lead producer @cshepherd, and producer @svalicea are talking all things Spring--even Springfield!-- flowers and the city’s blooming spring art scene!

In other news...I have now started some flag drama in the City Cast slack 😈

There's a proposal in Springfield to study a potential redesign of Illinois' state flag. Which got me wondering...
What would YOU put on a new state flag?
Here's the current one for reference

And yes we're planning to talk about this on @CityCastChicago. So you know. Voicemail's always open (773) 780-0246
Personally, I'm hoping for some monarch butterfly love (the state insect). Mostly because I love the idea of little girls with Illinois hair clips.
