Workouts for dummies: listen to horses, listen to their ears! Watch FY interact with rider, at the start his ears are straight and head somewhat down, he is measuring what is ahead of him, as he got moving, the left ears keeps turning back to get instructions, as if asking "what would you like me to do?", he is listening to his rider, as the work moves on, he has his right flopping means he is relaxed, but at the same time keeps turning back torwards the rider, at one point both ears go helicopters, both facing out as he accelerated, and as he is pulling up his ears go forward, showing he understands he is done, and is judging what is in front of him. A good work is when a horse listens to his riders instructions, NOT TIME. Watch your dogs and watch their ears and you understand moods and interest level. Horses aren't much different.
