We are the average of the 5 people we spend the most time with. We all empirically agree with that, right? Has AI made your top 5 yet? Think about the implications. The kind of power AI companies wield, when AI is part of the entourage, for billions of people.

We’re probably wrong when we predict what’s next in web dev. “Personal software” is here, and it’s crazy to think you know where it will take us. Here’s what blew my mind today. I find it both exciting and scary. My favorite fitness tracking app sunsetted the plan I was on—and started asking for a monthly/yearly payment. I can’t get mad about it: my purchase was 9 years ago, I got plenty of value out of it, and they have to make money. I get it. But instead of paying, I thought… what if I ask ChatGPT to build me a site so I can track my workouts the same way? My needs are super simple anyway. After 30 seconds of prompting and 10 minutes of work (absolutely ZERO CODING)… I’ve got an app that covers my needs—complete with hosting. I saved it on my iPhone’s home screen, and it works as expected. Why would I, a regular Joe, pay $5/mo to an app… when I’m already paying for ChatGPT, which can build me personal apps and host them? This is going to have crazy implications. Here's all it took:

Decided to make @laravelbackpack customer reviews public - don't know why I didn't do this this sooner 🤦🏻‍♂️ Well I do know... this page would have taken me A LOT more time, before LLMs could whip it up.

Most Laravel admin panels are dead. That's not a criticism — it's a pattern worth understanding before you bet a real project on one - or release one. After 10 years in this space, I wrote the retrospective I wish had existed when I started 👇 Some good stuff there: backpackforlaravel.com/artic… Thanks @PovilasKorop @tnylea @crynobone @danjharrin @infyom @davidhemphill and everyone else who built in this space - any learnings to add? What kept you going or why did you stop? #laravel devs - any admin panel you've used in the past 10 years, that I've missed?

We moved from KapaAI to @crawlchat and we wouldn't go back. Took us pbbly hours to migrate - we get the same functionality for 10% of the cost. Plus, every time we needed help, the team at CrawlChat has been incredibly helpful and moved faster than expected. If you're in the market for a RAG chatbot for your documentation... you should definitely give CrawlChat a try.

Build on WordPress, they said. I has great SEO, they said. Well... no. I moved from WP to Laravel + Backpack and got an instant boost. Took less than a day to build the same marketing website I had on WP, thanks to AI. Highly recommend doing the same.

Boring is a cost strategy. Choose boring tech for the parts that nobody sees.

When a dev leaves, the admin panel should survive. That's why you need @laravelbackpack

How about... framing @laravelbackpack as plumbing? 👀 Perhaps the better word here is "need" not "deserve":

AI coding workout plan: - Activate "Act Mode" - Do push-ups until it asks for input - Repeat Hello, new muscles! 😅

Finally! New in 2026 in ChatGPT - the ability to change your account email. I think there's a lesson here for all of us "builders". They grew to 800M users without this. Note: It might have launched last year and I didn't notice. Bbut still!

Here's a wild idea - how about framing Backpack as "rewrite insurance"?

The beauty in being a late-adopter with tech trends... is that as time passes, the downsides become more clear. You can often skip the trend altogether, and NOT: - pay the BIG cost of adopting them, - then then the BIG cost of removing them.
