From what we're now learning, I suspect Fairford is going to become a case study in why people shouldn't speculate about ongoing police investigations until the full facts are known.

This is Rick Rescorla. He died 25 years ago today, when the South Tower of the World Trade Centre collapsed following a terrorist attack. His actions that day saved thousands of lives and today schoolchildren in Cornwall will take part in a parade in his honour.

Two separate academics saying it's either fine, or actively good, to play music loudly on public transport. Nobody remotely sane thinks this. We need more guards on public transport - backed up by more British Transport Police. And fines for this stuff.
Hahahaha. This is an incredible piece.

How do the results in Greater Manchester Mayorality compare to previous elections? While Labour is well down on its 2024 vote it was significantly up on the locals in Greater Manchester, while both Reform and the Greens are down, with Restore Britain not far off 1 in 10 votes.

Labour trounce Reform in Manchester mayoral election. As I was saying earlier, a few months ago the settled narrative was Reform would win this election.

Am surprised from focus groups this week how much the lack of lectern for Burnham’s No10 speech has cut through and as a Starmer contrast, psychologically seems to have landed as bolder/removing a barrier.

In May we said Nigel Farage probably didn't owe tax on his £5m gift. The Guardian now reports the gift followed talks where Farage said he'd need £5m to return to frontline politics. *If* that's right, we think there's a high risk of a £3m tax bill - payable by Reform.

John Swinney needs a fresh start to political communications. Here are the kind of responses he should have given to a) Peter Murrel guilty plea, b) Lady Ross ruling on prisons and c) the media pen in Holyrood 1/4

🧵There’ll likely be a rush to call British public ungovernable in the wake of Starmer’s resignation. But blaming the voters is a cop out, and imo the reason for 5 PMs in 6 years is that all of them stuffed up in avoidable ways. Going through them:

I hope this isn’t true. There are times when it’s more important to put country before party. This is one of them. Burnham’s longstanding commitment to a fairer voting system could transform our democracy & counter dire threat of a Reform UK government theguardian.com/politics/202…

One of the big broadcasters asked me to do some overnight punditry, in their central London studio at 4am. The catch? Their fee was £50, and they wouldn't pay for a cab. So, at £30 each way, I'd be paying a tenner for the privilege. Guys... how bad are your budget cuts?!
