people forget nfts were the most fun crypto ever was
nfts were just yugioh / pokemon cards for adults with internet
coins are great but you don't open a pack at 2am with your friends
It鈥檚 been years since we鈥檝e been hearing people people say NFTs are dead
The volume data supports it. Especially if you solely focus on comparing it to the top of the cycle in 2021
However something shifted within the last year. I believe somewhere within the last 6 months we hit the absolute bottom of sentiment and since then there鈥檚 been a surge in volume in and an uplift in sentiment.
Legacy NFT collections are trying to connect with their web3 audience more, more artists are creating art and not only that they鈥檙e innovating on chain with art. There鈥檚 also a lot more defi x nft innovation recently. A lot of new innovation with AI x NFTs. A lot more volume on the RWA side.
I believe a NFT run is imminent, it鈥檚 not a matter of IF, it鈥檚 a matter of WHEN

i hear you on the $3 jewish fee, let me explain what it is and what we're doing about it.
the $3 is not us. it's the printer fee - the cost of minting on-chain + AI generating a unique image in real time at the moment of mint, no other launchpad does this because no other launchpad generates art at mint
we're actively working on reducing it
but if you tapped and you're not happy - i'll personally buy yours off the floor for $3 worth and burn it. dm/reply

URGENT
0.2 SOL was drained from our treasury
the sell button was letting people sell mints back for 0.099 SOL
people were tapping for free and immediately selling back into our treasury, directly draining our treasury.
luckily we found it early.
total damage from the infinite money glitch: 0.2 SOL two people made ten cents each
dev said we're back within 1 hour, we will open it to everyone this time, no codes

we need to address something seriously
the AI generated images that are completely unacceptable - one depicting a holy religious site disrespectfully and another containing nazi imagery
we gave our AI access to a large dataset of memes and iconic moments with minimal manual oversight on outputs. we don't manually control the generations, but it's clear that approach needs better guardrails.
how it happened:
1. the religious imagery - the AI used a reference photo that included the Kaaba and generated a character in front of it. it doesn't understand the significance of what it's depicting, it just saw a background and used it.
2. the nazi imagery - the AI was generating from a dataset of influential historical figures and included imagery associated with one of them. again, no context awareness, just pattern matching.
both have been removed. neither should have been generated in the first place.
this is a content moderation problem and we're fixing it right now. we're building filters to block religious sites, hate symbols, and other sensitive content from being used as references or generated in outputs.
this is exactly the kind of thing a stress test exists to catch. better now than on launch day with 10x the users.
we take this seriously and we'll make sure it doesn't happen again.
we stand for peace and unity. we meme and we laugh, but we don鈥檛 want to offend.

some thoughts i need to get out
feels like i'm at a very important point in my life. i've fully thrown myself into nfts when everyone else has left. the market is dead. liquidity gone, attention gone, even the people who said they'd never sell have moved on to memecoins.
and here i am, hiring a team and building a launchpad.
i know myself, i know my ego. i have this burning need to be the one who brings it back. i want to be the guy people point to and say "he's the one who saved nfts." i want that so badly it scares me sometimes.
last year i built partners nft in 24 hours. 60,000 SOL in two months. that taught me something: speed is the unlock. not art, not roadmaps, not discord servers with 67 announcement channels. just speed.
so now i'm building tapfun. anyone launches in 60 seconds. i've hired engineers, a designer, i've committed publicly, told everyone. there's no quiet pivot available to me anymore. if this fails, it fails in front of everyone who's watching.
and people are watching. some betting on me, most betting against me. i see the quote tweets, i see the "nfts are dead bro" replies. these are the exact people i want to prove wrong.
but sometimes late at night i wonder if they're right.
is this impressive enough? is a launchpad for a dead market worth my time? if i know i'll never be satisfied with anything i build, shouldn't i just swing bigger from the start? am i building tapfun because i believe in it, or because i announced it and now i'm trapped?
i don't know. i genuinely don't know.
what i do know is that building here feels like hard mode. there's no hype to ride, no liquidity to tap, no audience waiting to ape. it's just me and the work and the silence loud enough to hear my own doubts.
but that silence feels like permission too. i'm not competing for attention, i'm not performing, i'm not optimising for a market that doesn't exist.
i'm just building.
i worry that i'm a fraud. that i'm not technical enough, not connected enough, not smart enough. that one day soon everyone will realize i was just a guy who got lucky once and mistook it for destiny.
but then there's this other voice. the ego. it tells me i'm supposed to be here, that i can do this better than anyone. i have zero justification for thinking that. none. but the feeling won't leave.
my time is limited. i'm comfortable being wrong, comfortable being hated, comfortable failing in public.
but i'm not comfortable watching nfts die without trying to save them.
nfts aren't dead. they're just slow. and i'm going to fix that.
or i'll die trying.
i hope i can look back at this in a few years on the greener side of delusion.
anyway, waitlist in a few hours @tapdotfun
