"It only came out through a conversation with the code" - @mfeathers talking about design discovery in existing systems at #ddd_eu. Super interesting insights into how in DDD, the system can also inform the domain and not only the other way around.

"There should be a correspondence between the ubiquitous language and the implementation." When this correspondence breaks down, the missing concept is scattered around the code base in odd places.

But it also works the other way: when refactoring legacy systems using #DDD, the system should be considered a domain expert - some important domain concept may only be in the code.

Just landed in rainy Amsterdam for 3 days of #DDDEurope. This year's program is totally awesome and I'm looking forward to inspiring talks and conversations with lots of new learnings 🙂.

A PR is asking your friends to spend some of their valuable time making sure that the code changes you did are correct, sensible and leaves the code base in an improved state compared to before the PR. You should always include some context explaining your reasoning.

By not doing so, you ask your friend to discern your thoughts from the code changes. This can be difficult and extra time consuming. It's like sending an email without a subject or delivering a 100 pages report without an executive summary. Don't do it!

#KCDDenmark donating 280.000 DKK to #CodingPiratesDK 🤯 What a mind-blowing way to end the first KCD Denmark - an investment in the future of platform engineering in Denmark 🤩

Replying to @Lybecker
@Lybecker sharing important knowledge about the IT industry in relation to climate change: "The IT industry emits more carbon than the aviation industry". This is something we normally don't think about, but we really should!

How awesome would it be if our #CloudNative platforms had the built-in capability of switching workloads around to where electricity is most climate friendly 🤯 And if climate footprint was an integrated part of our observability stack! #KCDDenmark

@RoberthTweets at #KCDDenmark: "Platform engineering is abstracting away complexity". So true: the success of a platform can be measured on how good it is at this. Application developers just want the platform to give you superpowers without getting in the way.

Nicolò Cambiosa sharing some similar truths about platform engineering really being about culture, not tech: "Nobody cares about your platform. You should focus on enabling outcomes." #KCDDenmark

More truth from @RoberthTweets: "DevOps is not a tool set - it's a culture. And everyone should be doing it." Yes, yes, yes 💪 #KCDDenmark

I've had this sticker sitting on my laptop since #DDDEU 2020. What a great way to end the 2023 edition with another enjoyable talk by @KentBeck stressing the importance of it 🙂. Thanks for an inspiring conference - hopefully see you next year.

@de_gijt: Kids don't learn "refrigerator" as their first word 😂. Don't start learning the hard parts before the basic stuff. Great insights on how we learn at #DDDEU

@de_gijt just gave an amazing talk at #DDDEU on how we learn with lots of tricks to improve your learning process. 💪 And with really important advice on giving feedback: Be kind🙂. Remember the curse of knowledge!

Surprising where you can find inspiration for organisational change! @jaminpauline and @tpierrain found theirs in changing US submarine leadership style from top-down to autonomous. #DDDEU.

And this one is so funny. Imagine your service as a Red Bull race car. Would you want to ride it? 😂 #DDDEU

"Fight your instinct to always want to take control". Maybe the most important advice for creating a safe space in an autonomous team to get the most out of every team member. But so hard to practice 😳
