Welles Crowther was a former Boston College lacrosse player whose trademark was a red bandana.
On September 11, 2001, he led people to safety after terrorists struck the World Trade Center.
This is his story.

Four years ago, Danny Ellerd was down to 92 pounds, living under a bridge, consumed by a 15-year addiction.
Cops showed up to lock him up and realized he was literally on the verge of death.
He survived the hospital, checked into rehab, and put his head down.
Today? He graduated from OSU with straight A’s and a degree in tech.
The system can't save anyone who doesn't want it. The door to change is always there, but you have to walk through it yourself.

Clovis & the Central Valley Lost a Valley Legend
Clovis and the entire Central Valley lost a true legend. Phil Morrelli has passed away. 🙏⚾️
Phil was a longtime high school football and baseball official, but his impact went far beyond the field. The Clovis Hall of Fame honored Phil for his lifetime of dedication to kids, sports, and the game he loved.
Phil took baseball umpiring to another level. Through training, education, leadership, and his relentless commitment to excellence, he helped make umpires better and, in turn, made youth baseball better.
Longtime Central Valley baseball umpire Rick Scarbery, who received the Golden Bat Award at the 55th Annual Fresno Easter Baseball Classic coaches dinner last year, put Phil’s impact perfectly:
“Phil Morrelli was the one that saw the potential in me to pursue umpiring at the next level, and was the greatest assigner and had all of us working together. Without Phil I would have never thought about umpiring College baseball.”
That says everything about the kind of man Phil was.
The Italian Stallion always had a smile on his face and was one of those rare souls who made everyone around him feel seen. Whether he was in the stands, on the field, or simply talking baseball, Phil lived the game the same way he lived life with heart, loyalty, and joy.
And I always loved that Phil was a big St. Louis Cardinals fan! ❤️⚾️
Phil leaves behind an incredible legacy of people he mentored, games he influenced, and memories that will last a lifetime.

Prayers for Joyce and the entire Morrelli family. 🙏
Rest in peace, Phil. Thank you for everything you gave to the kids, the umpires, the coaches, and the games we all love.
You were truly one of a kind. ❤️⚾️🏈 – at Clovis, CA

My friend took his life Saturday. He was 31. Had a career he was proud of, a wife who loved him, two kids who needed him. From the outside, he had it all. From the inside, he was drowning and none of us saw it.
That's the part that keeps me up at night. We were friends. We talked. We laughed. He knew what I do for people who are suicidal and somehow, the thing that was killing him stayed hidden behind all of that.
Men are raised to be the rock. The provider. The one who holds it together no matter what. So we learn to swallow the pain, to smile through the cracks, to carry everything alone until the weight finally wins.
If you're a man reading this and you're struggling please, please ask for help. Not because you're weak. Because you're human. Because the people who love you would rather hear the hard truth than lose you to a silence they never knew existed.
And if you're a friend of a man, really check in. Not the casual "how are you." The real "what's going on with you brother." Sometimes the strongest ones are the ones falling the hardest, and they won't say a word until someone asks.
I wish I had asked him. I wish I had known. I wish I had said something. We talked for 30 minutes on Wednesday and I keep going over in my head what I missed. Miss you and love you brother 💔

Spent the last couple of days talking to people about Pirates first round pick Derek Curiel. Found countless stories of a player who will do anything to win, from the diamond to Ping-Pong.
Wait… Ping-Pong?
“The boy can play some Ping-Pong.” More:

This is the first 10-game stretch in Red Sox history in which they went 10-0, scored 50+ runs, and allowed fewer than 15 runs.
The last MLB team to do that was the 2022 Astros, who went on to win the World Series.
