In response to the attack ads against #onted educators, @etfopresident said, "It’s not surprising to see the Ford government resorting to attack ads targeting educators, given its long record of undermining and undervaluing teachers, education workers, and the unions that represent them. And let’s be clear: these government ads are paid for by taxpayers in this province." #onpoli
NEW: I asked Education Minister Paul Calandra why he poured public money into ads taking aim at teacher unions, instead of focusing on reaching a deal at the bargaining table.
“I will use every means at my disposal to ensure that students, parents and teachers understand what my position is.”

NEW: We’ve obtained a leaked script for a taxpayer-funded advertisement that takes aim at teacher unions, as contract talks grind to a halt.
The draft script portrays parents criticizing unions over sick days & potential strikes.
The Ford government is defending the approach, arguing unions themselves have been running ads and campaigns for well over a year.

📢📢📢 255,000 teachers and education workers unite in province-wide action this week!
On April 29, more than 255,000 #ETFO, @AEFO_ON_CA, @OECTAProv, @osbcucscso, and @osstf members will participate in a Province-wide Day of Action. This coordinated effort represents a powerful show of unity among Ontario’s teachers and education workers at a time when publicly funded education continues to face significant challenges.
Teachers and education workers will come together to visually signal their support and demand for investments in publicly funded education. Across Ontario, union members will wear red and purple as part of the Red for Ed and Power of Purple movements. This collective action will demonstrate that teachers and education workers are united in calling for improved learning and working conditions in our schools and universities.
Momentum is building. We invite families and other community allies to join us in calling for meaningful investment and a genuine commitment to student success and well-being.
