There’s often criticism of the RCN and Council. This is a good example of professional leadership of the council’s elected members, TUC and the executive collaborating. Yes more to do, but the trajectory of change has been set, well supported by you Leanne, thank you!

I think @sandradyer_05 the nurse consultant debate is not going to be resolved on X. The BMA will (quite rightly) fight to protect its members interests around title protection as will RCN.That said the post existed for over quarter of a century without problems so what changed?
Yes! @Jessdavidson20 told RCN Congress that a Cornish Pasty has more legal protection than the title Nurse. Clear criteria for ingredients/ standards/ location. Some think pasties are nice, who could disagree that a fake nurse can do more harm than a fake pasty?

Completely agree. We have excellent candidates this year. Together with our strong and well led PNC and TUC, we can deliver really impactful change.
Our voice has the power to make a difference. RCN members can use their power to vote in the President and Regional elections. Postal votes need to be received by the 7th of September; post yours in good time to secure the trusted Council leadership needed. I voted; have you?

In my RCN re-election campaign, questions have been put to me about the role of retired nurses in the RCN. This 2026 Journal of Advanced Nursing article is thought-provoking. Is the loss of professional wisdom a workforce risk? I would welcome hearing people’s thoughts.
