Reddit lost 29% of its value in one day last Friday, because Google's AI answers questions on the page and sends fewer clicks.
The AI search checklist for your own website:
- Track calls and form enquiries, not visits
- Show prices on your service pages
- Give every service and area its own page
- Answer the main question in the first lines
- Keep address, hours and prices current
- Check robots.txt lets AI bots in
Then ask ChatGPT "best [service] in [town]?" and see which sites it quotes.
Here's how I saved £4,000 on accounting this year:
- BankSync's free API pulls in my business, current and credit card accounts
- Claude reads invoices and statements from my 3 inboxes
- 1Password lets Claude log into portals for statements
- Claude Code matches it all and flags what it can't place
The only thing I still pay for is filing software, because HMRC only accepts approved software.
My accountant never offered anything like this, so my SEO clients get it. They connect Claude to my agency's app and pull their own numbers whenever they want.
Semrush confirmed this week that Google has been feeding rank trackers bad data since September.
If your ranking chart shows a cliff this month:
1. Open Search Console and check clicks
2. Compare with the week before
3. Then look at calls and form enquiries
On the sites I look after, it was a normal week.
X open sourced its For You code today, so I had a read
few things I didn't expect..
- someone sharing your post by link counts way more than a like
- bookmarks don't count at all
- replies count a lot, even more if you follow each other
- replies to people who don't follow you don't show up in their For You
- smaller accounts get a little push in the first couple of hours
anyone else had a look?
A full-time minimum wage job is now more than halfway to the 40% tax band, and the threshold is frozen until 2031.
Meanwhile the proposed Founders' Relief only helps once you've got £10m of turnover growing 25% a year.
Since when do we aim so low?
Bing added a Topics Portfolio tab to AI Performance in Webmaster Tools this week
It groups the queries where you get cited in Copilot and Bing AI into topics, then lists the queries in each topic where other sites get cited and you don't
Topic Size, Sites Cited and Queries per topic.. all approximate, Bing's own word is directional
As far as I know that's the first native report from either engine that puts rivals' citations next to yours. Search Console only shows your own impressions
Beta, and it hides on sites without enough data, so small sites probably see nothing yet
Anyone got it showing?

asked chatgpt and google's AI who the best estate agent, solicitor and dentist is in 10 english towns
15 of 30 times, neither named the firm with the most google reviews
chatgpt kept quoting comparison sites, not google
asked once each, so a snapshot. did yours come up?
added a button to a client's slack. click it and it checks how five AI engines talk about their brand
~375 answers per location, scored against their own rules, into a google sheet
no Peec or Profound bill, just direct API calls
are those tools enough for a custom rubric?
ran a search console filter for any search over ten words long
one client site went from ~50 of those in march to 1,700 in august. 36k impressions, zero clicks
most start "I am a 25-34 year old chief human resources officer.."
so mostly AI, not people

Draft the one-pager in Claude Docs, turn it into a deck with Claude Slides, and mock up a matching visual in Claude Design, all from one place.
Cloudflare changes the AI crawler defaults on every free account tomorrow. No notification, it just switches in the background.
The catch: Googlebot counts as Search and Training at once, so a Training block can take your Search crawl down with it.
Worth checking AI Crawl Control on every client site today.
Can we get a limit reset though?
Deleted two thirds of a client's blog last month. Clicks didn't move.
Half those pages were ones Google had already crawled and declined.
Before publishing 20 more articles, check how many of the ones you've got are even indexed.
