Make things better because they can be better 💯
Mind boggling to me that I can make a thing faster and there's always people that ask "but why?" What kind of mentality is that? The pursuit of excellence does not need justification. Also, I find in so many cases, we can't know the impact of an improvement until we do it. For example, one I've talked about before: Ghostty's high IO throughput has enabled terminal program (emulator and TUI) fuzzing at a speed thats incomparably fast to prior solutions. This has resulted in upstream patches to resolve issues in popular projects like btop, tmux, and more. Speed enabled that anecdotally example that lifted the tides of adjacent communities that don't rely on Ghostty technology at all. I didn't predict this. Make things better because they can be better and let the results naturally play out.

I recently discovered the “Everything Is Everything” podcast by @amitvarma & @ajay_shah and I loved it so much that I felt like we needed a book companion for all those incredible recommendations! So here it is: eiebooks.com

India after Gandhi by Ramchandra Guha was my best read of 2025. I wrote my reflections here: tejasbubane.github.io/books/… If you want to know how modern India came to be, this is the book!

To people getting upset about the politics of the day - if you study history, you'll find that this is the default state of humanity. You are almost always living amongst large masses of people getting high on delusion, and dividing into "us" vs "them" and speed runnng holy wars

The great sin of our age is incuriosity. People are not motivated to learn, they are not motivated to pursue knowledge. We need a generation of students that are hyper-literate, a generation that rejoices in reading. If there's any hope for the future, it begins in the library.

I would actually prefer the world where atleast 3 of these: cars, water and air purifiers were not necessary for basic survival. This is how developed countries do it. If you're gonna demand something from the govt, ask for making these unnecessary instead.
Car is not a luxury Water purifier is not a luxury Air purifier is not a luxury Air Conditioner is not a luxury Health Insurance is not a luxury These are NECESSITIES NECESSITIES should NOT be taxed at +28%

If you are in your 20s (and can afford) then move to abroad to work and live, do not think twice. Remember, in 20s you have appetite to take risks and can take step back, if required. Experience a new country, Experience working with diverse people, Experience you being taking care of yourself and home, WLB, good infra, live beyond work and a lot.

The most controversial advice I would like to give youngsters is to rebel against your parents as soon as possible. It does not mean to disrespect them, but doing your own thing with conviction. You have to tell your decisions and not ask for permission. Sure you could be wrong, fail in your endeavour, but you’ll learn to live with it eventually. Know so many folks grappling with daddy/mommy issues unable to think independently for fear of offending them. Or just don’t have the skills to make their own choice. Never knowing when to stand up to them.

Here’s the thing folks. I’ve been coding 32 years. When something like this happens it’s an organizational failure. Yes, some human wrote a bad line. Someone can “git blame” and point to a human and it’s awful. But it’s the testing, the Cl/CD, the A/B testing, the metered rollouts, an oh shit button to roll it back, the code coverage, the static analysis tools, the code reviews, the organizational health, and on and on. It’s always one line of code but it’s NEVER one person. Implying inclusion policies caused a bug is simplistic, reductive, and racist. Engineering is a team sport. Inclusion makes for good teams. Good engineering practices makes for good software. Engineering practices failed to find a bug multiple times, regardless of the seniority of the human who checked that code in. Solving the larger system thinking SDLC matters more than the null pointer check. This isn’t a “git gud C++ is hard” issue and it damn well isn’t an DEI one.

Haskell will change the way you look at programming and Sanchayan is a great host. We had similar meetups 5 yrs ago and to this day I am thankful to myself that I attended them and worked through the book. If you are in Bangalore, you should not miss this.
Hello Bangalore peeps! 🚨Meetup News Alert🚨 A new Haskell meetup is starting near you: meetup.com/the-bangalore-has… We are starting from ground up by learning Haskell with the help of Haskell book! If this interests you see you at the @dyte_io office this Saturday :)
