The N1 near Kranskop in Limpopo has been temporarily closed following a serious multiple-vehicle accident that claimed the lives of two women.
The accident occurred on the N1 between High Accident and the Modimolle off-ramp, involving four vehicles: three sedans and one SUV.
According to preliminary reports, the collision began when a Toyota seven-seater SUV and a Kia sedan were involved in a head-on collision. A second head-on collision subsequently occurred when other motorists attempted to avoid the initial crash. This collision involved a Kia Picanto and an Audi.
Tragically, two women were declared deceased at the scene. Three people, comprising two men and one woman, sustained serious injuries, while another man sustained critical injuries and is awaiting airlifting by helicopter. One woman also sustained minor injuries.

BUSTED | Hillbrow police have arrested a 23-year-old female suspect on Saturday, 31 October 2026, in connection with a robbery that was captured on dashcam footage.
It is reported that on Friday, 30 October 2026, an e-hailing driver was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash in Hillbrow. The incident was captured on dashcam footage, which is currently being circulated on social media.
The victim subsequently came forward and opened a case of robbery with the police.
The Hillbrow Acting Station Commander, Colonel Marite, established a task team to investigate robberies within the Hillbrow policing precinct and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.
Police are still searching for two additional suspects believed to be involved in the robbery.
The arrested suspect is expected to appear before the Hillbrow Magistrateβs Court on Monday, 2 November 2026.
Investigations are ongoing.
