The App Store needs competition. Without competition, they can be arbitrarily horrible to developers and there is no alternative.

Those who are opposed to corporations and favor government do not realize that government is simply the largest, most monopolistic corporation of all and it has a monopoly on violence.

“Don’t worry, Jesse. We’re not doing anything illegal.” That’s what I was told when I asked why the board wasn’t allowed to see its own finances. I don’t know what was promised to Bankhead. I do know there was a culture that believed rules and laws did not apply to them.
This is extremely concerning. If this is true, it appears to be a violation of Montana Code Annotated 13-35-221. My office will be reaching out to @AlaniBankhead, @SethBodnarForMT and @DNC to investigate.

Watch! @McConaughey said the two-party system doesn't represent most Americans. So the two parties are attacking him. He's right: The largest portion of Americans identify as independent, yet the system pulls out all the stops to keep independents from competing. Let's show them we can compete. Matthew is right. Will you help us bring that fight to the system? DIVE IN: home.forwardparty.com/donate

Using TBC tunnels to transport freight. The latest Prufrock Liner Truck (using Tesla Model 3 batteries and drive units) has been modified to carry a standard 20’ shipping container. Fits like a glove!

Never thought I’d see the day that @ElonMusk starts defending Russian oil refineries. What did they do to him?

Amazing. The enrollment in Seattle Public Schools is the same as it was in 2014, but there are an extra 1000 full-time employees on the payroll, and the budget has doubled. All while test scores have declined considerably.

Yes. Soon there will be a highly efficient program form that will be indecipherable to humans but optimal for agents to manipulate and processors to execute.
DHH is fundamentally right about Rust. For context, Vercel has been undergoing a Rust-ification (carcinization, technically 🦀) for a while. One of the first projects we migrated was Turborepo, from Go to Rust¹. The migration completed, but the RoI was actually quite controversial internally. While Rust was in our eyes better for low-level OS access, something crucial for a build system like Turbo, the human migration costs were very sustantive. Go is very fast. It's beautifully designed. It's easy to iterate on. We were very conflicted about the migration, because it was *humans* writing the code, *even if we knew Rust was a better choice*. The calculus has now changed. What's "best for humans" is no longer necessarily "best for business". FWIW, it's also quite unlikely that Rust is the end-all-be-all toolchain. I'm quite certain there's greener pasture ahead, because Rust itself was designed before the 'supersonic tsunami' of agents hit. ¹ https://vercel.com/blog/how-turborepo-is-porting-from-go-to-rust

Then it should blow right by the Standard Model of Particle Theory/General Relativity by, say, breakfast tomorow! Because with all our data, it would be rather mysterious/suspicious if it stopped more or less exactly where we humans were stopped dead in our tracks…53 years ago.

Each of the 4 people you call “oligarchs” founded and spent decades building companies in highly competitive markets, and those companies created trillions of dollars of value. We should celebrate these people and their accomplishments.

Yes. If your model isn’t aligned to you, who is it aligned to?
When frontier labs talk of “aligning” models, ask: to what? If they say values, ask: whose? If it’s theirs rather than the user’s: why?

The cryptographic world computer: vitalik.eth.limo/general/202… My attempt to express in somewhat concise terms the true meaning of basically everything planned to happen to Ethereum starting from the fork after Hegota. It's really not just a blockchain anymore. It's a hybrid architecture that combines together blockchains and modern cryptography, to enable much more powerful properties. FOCIL, EIP-8288, Lean consensus, state management, formal verification, advanced mempool improvements (including privacy), and the longer-term specter of obfuscation all mentioned.

I was there in person, and very much of what he announced that day as become reality. So excited for the future.
10 years ago today, @elonmusk announced his Mars plans in the form of the Interplanetary Transportation System, now known as Starship at the 2016 IAC in Guadalajara, Mexico. This was when he used the underpants gnome meme and I’ve always wondered if back then he already knew Starlink would be the key to SpaceX’s future followed by AI prospects, or was it still just rocket launch services that thought would be the money maker. PS: I was there and it was the first time I asked Elon anything at a press conference. I remember being pretty nervous. I never imagined I’d hold multi-hour conversations about rockets just a few years later.

Programming languages were designed for humans. How would it look to design one for agents?
"Programming languages and frameworks are dead." Yes, kind of. What will matter in future is runtime behavior: Performance characteristics, resource usage, failure modes, observability, debuggability, deployments, rollbacks. And legibility of all that to agents.
