RIP John Nott, who has passed away at the age of 92. The last living National Liberal MP, he was Thatcher’s first Trade Secretary and then Defence Secretary during the Falklands. Called his memoirs “Here Today, Gone Tomorrow” after his memorable 1982 run in with Sir Robin Day.

Remembering Margaret Thatcher, who was born #onthisday in 1925. Her portrait was commissioned from me in 2009 by the then PM Gordon Brown, to hang permanently in 10 Downing Street.
