i hate when yall say colorism is just dating conversations when the erasure of monoracial Black women and girls on screen is LITERALLY discussed on here every single day. just say talking about it makes you uncomfortable!

Why do y’all think a lot of them mixed Latinas be with Black men? In many cases it’s because colorism works against them in their culture where Eva Longoria, JLo and Sofia Vergara type aesthetics are considered top tier.

People are using this as her not understanding colorism when really she is revealing her perfect understanding. Dark equating ugliness and undesirability. She said I was ugly like you how could I have benefited from it when her complexion is why her ugliness was overlooked

Replying to @nicebitchg
A lot of lightskin people feel like people use colourism to discredit their work. Instead of looking at it like a systematic problem they take it as a personal attack because a lot of them don’t really know what it means
Toni for me easily , i would argue her 4th album is one her weakest but her first 3 is def getting with everybody
what was his issue with the Queen Janet?
Michael Jackson’s bodyguard reveals the King of Pop refused to see his own sister Janet at 11:30pm… then stared at her movie billboard months later and asked “is that my sister?” like he had no idea she existed in Hollywood or knew who she was.
“When you was around, Michael, did you see any interaction between him and Janet?”
“The only time that I recall Janet, the whole family pretty much, had came to the house one night, 11, 11:30 at night…
I had to wake him up, and he didn’t like that.
And I let him know, I said, Mr. Jackson, your family’s here to see you. They said they’re not leaving until they see you.”
“And he asked me, was Randy there? And I told him no.
He said, okay, well, I’ll just see my brothers…
So I went back out… I said, Mr. Jackson said he’ll only see his brothers.
And Janet said, what about me? I said, I’m sorry, ma’am. He said, just his brothers.
And she gave me a little attitude…”
“I found it surprising when it come to Janet that we were in New York… there was a billboard of the movie Why Did I Get Married?…
He looked at the billboard, and he said, is that my sister?
And we said, yes. He said, oh, is she’s in a play?
And we’re like, no, sir, it’s a movie. He said, oh, and he asked, how long has it been out?
I just said it just came out… but I knew the movie was out for a while…”
“No. No. No, I never heard from Latoya.”
“What about Jermaine?”
“Jermaine, they spoke a few times… He called a few times and they spoke, certainly.”
“Oh, I’ve seen him get emotional a few times, especially when he… we used to call it the red wine moments.
Because there were times that he would request a bottle or two of red wine…
About 45 minutes, he’s going to be calling… and he would call and he would vent.
He would just vent… why can’t people just leave him alone?
I just want to love and live with my kids and have a normal life.
I want them to have a normal life…
And all I could do was just sit back and just listen.
I felt bad. I did. I felt bad. It was hard not to.”

difference between Mona & Cardi is Mona is BLACK & Cardi B is NOT. A lightskinned black woman is more likely to sympathize w/ colorism than a nonblack Latina who NEVER identified as black, never TREATED as black. Yall make Cardi black so you feel better bout yourself but she not
MONA ADDRESSES CARDI B CONTROVERSY, SAYS COLORISM PLAYS A ROLE IN SUCCESS
Cardi B argued that some people don't get opportunities because they aren't smart enough to market themselves and sell themselves in important rooms.
Mona: “I just thought she was so wrong about it.”
“Cardi is very talented, Cardi better than a lot of people.”
“But If there was a girl that did exactly what I did, and she was big and Black, I can't say that she would make it where I make it.”
“I know part of the reason why I made it here is because I have the complexion for the connection. That's my belief.”
