A digital drawing showing two doodles of two insects. On the left, there is a drawing of a green caterpillar and on the right, there is a drawing of a black wasp with a slender abdomen that has an orange section. It has light brown wings and sox legs and a hairy body and it is looking at the caterpillar.

From earlier this year, a speckled bush cricket nymph, Leptophyes punctatissima, that I found in my garden.
A photo of a small green insect covered in black spots with long thread like antenna standing on a green leaf.

People out there following and sharing content stealing accounts like Massimo need to realise that they are simply terrible. They don't care about creators. This awful reply to Nick demonstrates that. Please block them.

I literally spend ALL of my time either in the forest documenting wildlife or crammed somewhere editing the content. I sacrifice everything for not much return, like ALL creators do! 😤 The concept that ‘grifters’ can just exist by downloading content without consent and uploading on their own platform for monetisation is disgusting - especially when this is how they respond after being caught! BAN THEM! 🤮

One of my most favourite finds ever so far, Gastropacha quercifolia, the Lappet. I love how this species looks. :)
A photo of a large brown moth resting on someone's finger. The moth has its forewings folded over its back and its hind wings stick out from under them. It has dark brown antenna folded against its head. The edges of its wings are spiky and bumpy in appearance. The moth has a big brown eye. The photo shows a left side view of the moth.

In relation to this post, I'd like to give an important species shoutout to the Painted woolly bat, a beautiful vesper bat that's sadly going extinct due to this practice. About 25% of online listings for taxidermy bats are this species alone. Bats are NOT wall decorations
ferret! 💛🦇 (#1 BAT LOVER)@FerretFlowerrOct 21
since its close to halloween, please remember to not buy any taxidermy bats you see online. they are ALL culled in large numbers for just this purpose, and to be put in a resin box sold on amazon. please don't support their extinction, and remember NONE ARE ETHICALLY SOURCED

Earwig drawing from earlier this year
A digital drawing of an earwig. It's a very rough simple doodle that's messily coloured.

Here we go again, my content being stolen by a grifter that’s blocked me. 😤 And now it’s ME that has to go out and annoyingly fill out a copyright form to submit to X which I don’t have time to do. I thought the new ‘content creator scheme’ was going to stop this? 🙄

I really don't like that 12000 angry bees account and I've had them blocked for a while now. It spreads misinformation, hatred and cruelty towards other bugs and also helps push the idea that honey bees (specifically Apis mellifera) are the only bees that exist.

It really annoys me as someone who's main bug interest is bees. That account would be much more fun if it was ran by someone who actually cared about and liked insects.

Same goes for the bug roleplay accounts that do this same stuff. All of the ones I've seen so far are ran by people who don't know anything about the bugs they're pretending to be and end up spreading misinformation about them as a result.

I'm sorry but the bird LARPer accounts on here aren't funny and are quite frankly annoying.

Also, if you're an artist who makes art with insect specimens, please stop using "ethically sourced" to describe your product unless you actually know where the specimens come from and you can explain what you mean by that. It makes you look like suspicious if you don't. (1/2)
Bird 🪲 #1 Andrena fulva fan@thatonecreaturOct 21
Here's a reminder that most of the insect specimens being sold online will have been killed and did not die naturally! Many insects are wild caught but some, mostly Lepidopterans, are farmed. Also, "ethically sourced" is a phrase that many shops will use in order to- (1/2)

I'm so tired of seeing people buying specimens online, making them into a piece of art and then slapping the "ethically sourced" label onto the art piece, when they don't even know themselves where the insect came from. (2/2)
